Excellent italian food and service. The staff were socialy plaisante. We had such a great time to mingle with them. Note that the expresso is the best in town.

“Rude Service Ruined Meal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

My boyfriend and I just took our mothers out to dinner at this restaurant and were very excited from the other reviews we read. Unfortunately, the male owner who was our server for the evening put a very sour taste in our mouths. My boyfriend has facial hair and he continually insulted him about this. He told him that no men like to shave, but that most have the decency to do so. He even went so far as to tell his mother he felt bad for her that he was her son. We are easy-going people and enjoy a good sense of humor, but his jokes were tasteless and insulting. The food was good, but it was honestly ruined by the very rude service.

“Consistently Excellent Italian Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

If you've traveled in Italy, you know how varied and creative the Italian cuisine can be; local fresh ingredients, constantly changing menus and names of pastas you have never heard before. Dolce Italia has it all! Who has ever heard of "Strozzipreti" (literally "strangle the priest" ) pasta in the US?? These delicious homemade tubular pasta were served in "my mother's" (yes, I remember the taste from my youth) ragu tomato sauce, freshly made and slow cooked for hours to get just the right blend of meat and tomato flavors. My wife had a vegetarian eggplant dish--also made with a fresh tomato sauce and homemade pasta--which she absolutely raved over (and she's not a bad chef herself!). The delcious food, together with excellent service and the warmth of the family atmosphere, makes this "trattoria" my favorite Sarasota restaurant!!! Grazie a tutti per un buon ripasto!

“Best Italian restaurant in Sarasota”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

The food here is absolutely the best and the service friendly and efficient. We have eaten here twice so far and without a doubt the best Italian restarants here. Their speciality is fresh pasta, so do try it.

“Delightfully authentic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

This tiny restaurant is a gem. The owners take pride in preparing delicious dishes --pastas, seafood, veal -- all made with fresh ingredients. A reservation is a must. We had to wait a bit because some diners who didn't have a reservation claimed they did, but the owner was apologetic and graciously served us a complimentary glass of wine.
