“Good food - smooth ride - no narrative”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2011

I was expecting information on what we were seeing while on the cruise. Nothing was forthcoming from the crew except were to find the life vests.

“Disappointing Birthday Dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2011

We decided to celebrate Jack's birthday with a dinner cruise on the Mariner Jack II. Tickets were about $55 each but since it included dinner and a cruise we decided to go for it, looking for something more momentous than just a meal out. Well, we needn't have wasted our money. The boat was elegant with linen tabelcloths and fine china but there was minimal deck space. We were assigned a table in the bow of the boat all by ourselves. Luckily, another couple asked to move as they were right under an air condictioning duct. There were only about 20 people on this deck as the upper deck had a private party. Dinner was a buffet with Salmon (Jack said it was good but I hate Salmon) prime rib,(not my favorite)... plain rice (blah), green beans (yuck again)... tossed salad and rolls. 2 cakes and Key Lime pie for dessert, (good but nothing outstanding) with tea and coffee. I am known to be a picky eater but this was just so uninspired that I really couldn't believe it. Bar prices were steep and the service was poor. I think they were concentrating on the private party above. It took a long time to get a drink order despite so few customers. By the time we got our wine they were directing people to the buffet, table by table, like a wedding. We were last but there was ample food. Meanwhile, we were missing the sunset as we were standing in line for food. There was no opportunity to be on deck to see the beautiful homes we were passing. The music was canned "Florida music" barely audible so not really entertaining. After dinner we went out on deck because it was so cold inside with the AC cranked. Outside it was just as cool but more humid. Lucky us... we got an extra half hour due to the private party. We were all practically asleep by the time we finally docked. Oh well, we'll cross this off our to do list for future visits. We would have had a much better meal at a local beach bar or Applebees and a more entertaining cruise on LaBarge or a sailboat.

“Absolutely delightful evening with top notch food on a lovely and well maintained vessel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2010

My husband and I share our anniversary with his parents. We were married on their 50th wedding anniversary!! We look for something exceptionally nice to do each year on our special day. This year we boarded the Marina Jack II and we were all very happy with the entire experience. The marina was clean, the crew was polite and fun, the ship was beautifully maintained and comfortable, and the food was fantastic! The buffet included a salad station (small but quite adequate), steamed vegetables, heavenly garlic smashed potatoes, salmon and prime rib. The deserts were very tasty too! Key Lime pie, cheesecake and chocolate cake. The ship took us out around the various Keys and then we watched a glorious sunset. The view of the homes on the keys was quite interesting and fun. Definitely a good idea and I bet we do it again!

“Pleasant lunch cruise with average quality food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2009

We took the buffet lunch cruise in the Sarasota bay. The cruise ship was very comfortable and i had no problems with my normal motion sickness. The quality of the food was in fact better than the normal indoor restaurant which has a great view but very mediocre cuisine. The dessert was in fact very good - kind of a chocolate caramel brownie with not alot of sugar- so quite interesting. The crew was very nice , the trip was alot of fun, we even saw some dolphins and all in all nice time had by all
