I try to make it to Kroaky's at least once every 3 or 4 months. It's my "happy place." While they do have a public karaoke lounge, I like the private karaoke rooms. I've been in the huge room for a friend's birthday party with 25 people, and I've been in the smallest room with 3 other friends, and most of the rooms in between. The rooms are comfortable and well air-conditioned. The staff is incredibly helpful - they come running when called, whether to take another drink or food order, or to change a battery on a dead mic, or to help us find the long song list that we just somehow lost.

The song list is ridiculously extensive, and it gets updated often. Kroaky's even has some "starter lists" to get the party moving. There's something incredibly therapeutic about singing with family or good friends for a couple of hours!

We go to Sarasota at least twice a year to visit daughter who studies there, so we're always looking for something new to do. This time we discovered Kroaky's Karaoke, located on S. Tamiami Trail. This is NOT a karaoke bar, there is no public to sing in front of. There are 9 private rooms of various sizes, each equipped with microphones, tv screen, etc. and a really huge list of songs ranging from oldies (even grandparents will find familiar songs) to ethnic songs and even songs for children. Prices are ridiculously low, although we ended up ordering lots of drinks and staying longer than we had planned - there always seems to be just one more song to sing. This is great fun for families or groups of friends and there are special rates for seniors and students. It's open from 11am through late, so you can almost always find a time to try out your vocal talents. Food can be ordered as well, although we didn't try it.
