“A wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

I chose this hotel after reading other reviews, and have to say it was even nicer than I expected. The lobby is really beautiful, and with 2 story ceilings, feels expansive and airy. Check in was a breeze and staff were extremely friendly. It was nice that they greeted me every time I returned to the hotel. This hotel offers a unique food option, with everything available for pickup 24/7. Menus are in the room and prices were surprisingly affordable.

The room is the real star. First, it was very large. My standard room was about 24' x 15', and included a sitting area, small kitchenette and desk. The bed is partially separated from the sitting area by a translucent screen. Pillows were very good and quite plentiful. The commode and shower are in their own room, but the sink is outside of the bathroom. Some people will find this makes getting dressed easier since the spaces are separated, but the sink is located very close to the foot of the bed. if your companion gets up and needs to turn on the light over the sink, the light will be in your face. Others have mentioned the noisy AC, but this is the same unit as pretty much every mid-range hotel, so it's not something that would be different anywhere else.

I mostly appreciated their thoughtful features. Housekeeping left a travel tube of Aquafresh toothpaste in my room which is a nice touch. There is a coin laundry on every floor with free detergent, and I saw many guests using it, especially if they had children. The free breakfast was decent and I liked that they used real plates and silverware, not paper plates. Overall, it felt like a place that cost a lot more than it did. I would return to this property in a minute.

Would stay here again. Nice bar in Lobby. Very helpful staff and clean rooms. Very quiet street by airport. Stayed here for two nights while taking in some Orioles spring training games. Would definitely stay here again.

Spent two nights while visiting Sarasota. Much less expensive than the beach hotels, and about 15 min drive to Siesta Key beaches. Breakfast was okay... good selection of breakfast sandwiches, but all products were previously frozen and just heated up (as the hotel staff told us). The room was spacious and clean. Downside was the A/C unit right next to the bed. It was a bit noisy and cold air blew directly on us. Shower door is only a half door, so it's difficult to shower without ending up with water all over the bathroom floor. Overall, I would say this is a good bargain for a hotel in Sarasota. I would stay again, but I'll bet you could find a better breakfast and shower in town.

We decided to try Hyatt Place as we could not secure a well priced room at The Hyatt. One enters to a lovely foyer, friendly staff. The room is quite upscale, with a European feel. The colours are pleasing, the decor modern with a flat screen TV, granite bathroom countertops and a sleek shower enclosure.
The breakfast as noted in some of the other reviews was very acceptable, better than most in the airport area.
The drawback was the AC. It was terribly noisy and continuously turned on and off all night long. The room started off very cool and it was comfy to snuggle under the fresh linens. However, we were awakened shortly thereafter when it shut off and the room became very warm. We shucked off the covers and went back to sleep, only to be awakened by the noise when the AC kicked in and cooled down the room. Blankets back on we grumbled about being awake once again. This continued all night long. Blankets on, blankets off. My husband and I both had a terrible night's sleep. We have no idea if this was exclusive to our room, or the entire hotel needs a new AC system. This was reminiscent of a two star hotel experience and should not be a problem in a Hyatt hotel.

Room Tip: Our room faced west. It was very quiet.

This is a great hotel and a good location if you want to be close to the Airport, New College of Florida or the Ringling museum. If you want to be close to St. Armand circle or the beaches than you are looking at about a 15 minute drive (depending on traffic which was light when we were there on a Thursday however I hear that on the weekend it can be bad).

The rooms are very spacious, modern and clean.

The breakfast in the morning is also very good, my only personal complaint is there there wasn't much for me to eat as I am celiac (gluten intolerant) however the rest of the family were very happy with it.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Staff was very friendly and the entire hotel was very clean. The beds were comfortable and the room was very spacious. The free breakfast was better than most but was still lacking, pastries and donuts had been frozen and were still cold. The hot breakfast items were also cold. A microwave in the breakfast area would have allowed one to reheat the items. Overall a nice hotel.
