“20 years of stays - a mixed bag for sure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

After 20 years, stays in several of their four buildings, and oodles of units, we have had lots of experiences here. The beach, pools, and grounds are most pleasant. The units have run from very tired to fairly nice... but never really great. This is predominantly a rental property so the owners stick to the basics in furnishings and appliances as most owners never stay in them. Generally, for a sort stay vacation it's fine. There have been some significant management changes in 2012 so that may or may not make a difference. The buildings are generally all older in Siesta Key as any building of larger developments stopped long ago. So, you pay pretty hefty tabs, to stay in dated buildings, to be on arguably the nicest beach in the US. Yep, that's why we keep coming back !

Room Tip: The Y building is close to the beach but noisy... Although great building for families with small ch...

The grounds are great and the beach is magnificent. We have stayed in several units in the past and have been extremely pleased. Unit Y104 leaves a lot to be desired. The front door does not close properly, and several night the front door remained open. The shower in the master room has no door or curtain and the bathroom consistently got flooded. The tvs in the unit are 13" computer monitors. The furniture seemed like it was all purchased in different garage sales. The dishwasher got backed up and stunk up the kitchen. we paid $2,000 a week for this unit and it was not worth half. We were very disappointed.

We have been going almost yearly since 1990. We love this location on the beach! Two pools, workout room, BBQ's, washer/dryer, upstairs hall available to rent (We had a birthday dinner for 27!) with kitchen facilities. The apartments are clean and well furnished. We always stay in the W building although C is nice, too. Best sand and warm water since it sits on the gulf side of Florida. Siesta Key beach is top-rated! Love it here!!!

Room Tip: Choose up top for a good view. Ground floor if you have kids and haul a lot of stuff!

We have been vacationing at Siesta Key for 18 years and staying at SSRC for 12. Stayed in early June in Y501. Ill start with the good: unit had a nice view. Grounds crew (Carlos' team) did a nice job with keeping the grounds well manicured and clean, as always, they were very attentive. That is about all for the good.
Disappointed: unit was tired, bare bones, sterile. Beds, furniture, carpet, kitchen, appliances, tv's, bathrooms - all very old and seemed to all be purchased at a garage sale.

Front office management is just ok. But after 12 years, they appear to have gone downhill quite a bit. Kind of abrupt and disinterested. Dare I say, "lazy". Perhaps they are having trouble keeping or hiring experienced mgmt. Not sure.

To their credit, they must be doing something right, because the complex was packed. Kids, adults (most of them drinking quite a bit), were everywhere all day and well into the night. Not like a frat party, but the late night screaming and drinking got annoying a few times: but that's ok, it's vacation.

Unfortunately, if we get the opportunity to get back to Siesta Key, it may be time to look at a different complex...unfortunately...we have fond memories of past vacations here. Definitely do NOT recommend Y501, if you are going to stay here.

Siesta key beach is still wonderful. It's been 25 years since I have been there. It was great to go down memory lane. The grounds are kept nice and the amenities are wonderful. We stayed in the tower and our unit had a horrible smell in the guest room. We all ended up sick. The tile floor was filthy. In some spots it was growing reddish orange mols. I guess the cleaning crew does not lie tile floors. Everything else was cleaned. The condo kitchen was very well equipped. The office kept passing the problem back to the cleaning crew. It got no where!

As for some of the other guests, we had to put up with some unruly kids. Kids pressing every button in the elevator (aggravating when you're trying to get downstairs for the sunset) and getting bombed with a water balloonist not very relaxing. No one is around to manage issues at night. When I spotted the water balloon brats and commented about their dirty deed, the parent just sat there like a bump on a log. No wonder!

Not sure we will stay on this property again, but love Siesta Key.

Room Tip: Book way in advance and read the reviews to get ideas about the individual units and what to be pare...

Amazing beach - Amazing Condo - Great Location - Park your car and rent a bike - this way you get to tour Siesta Key and also get some exercise! We ate at a different place every night - loved all of them....Condo's are gorgeous - clean - well equipped - grounds are kept spotless - you can rent the grills - have a sunset cookout! Pools are kept perfect. Going back next year for sure!

Room Tip: Room service is really just swapping towels twice a week - but that's all you need ... we called...

We LOVED the overall complex and would definitely go back again. We booked a condo for spring break 2012....granted, we booked pretty late so the selection was not optimal. It wasn't horrible but I would not pick this unit again when we return. We spent most of our time on the gorgeous beach or by the pool so the so-so condo didn’t really bother us.

We stayed in W0504. The website pictures were accurate but couldn't really portray the worn feeling of the condo. I will elaborate more on that but would like to list the things we LOVED about the Surf and Racquet.

The grounds were beautiful and well kept

LOVED THE BEACH POOL. It was a busy time but I was able to get a chair whenever I tried. The pool that is between the high rise and bldg. W has times of day where it’s completely in the shade so if you’ve go young kids there is a great pool option without them getting too much sun. LOVED THE CABANA GRILL AREA. You have two opportunities to sign up and use this grill during a week-long trip. The seawall / patio area around it is a great place to lay out in the sun. You feel like you’re on the beach because it’s right there but you don’t end up covered in sand. LOVED ALL THE BEACH CHAIRS – the beach was incredibly well stocked with chairs. This place was full to capacity but it sure seemed like everyone who wanted one had a chair.. LOVED THE BEACH TOWELS -The individual units don’t have beach towels but the office sells great ones for $25 each. They great looking, a great souvenir, and worth the price. LOVED OUR VIEW The view from the lanai view of the beach pool and beach – I’ve had to pay a lot more that this unit cost for a view like this. Fitness center with good equipment in good working order…..a little small so it was busy in the early morning but it worked out. LOVED THE OFFICE STAFF helpful office staff with a no hassle check in and probably the easiest check out ever. LOVED THE TOWEL EXCHANGE – they provide bath linens and they will take away the dirty ones and give you clean ones twice in a week (probably more if you needed it)

OK……now for the not so great. Unity W0504 is pretty worn. It looks pretty good in the pictures so I was a little surprised when we got there. First, there were really ugly/old looking fake flowers and plants everywhere. i don't mind nice artificial plants but these looked awful and made the place look old. A few more well placed accessories could really spruce up the place. The walls are pretty marked up and the whole place could use a good paint job. There’s one spot by the lanai that looks like a kid just started scribbling and didn’t get caught for awhile. The floor is all tile (except the bedrooms) which seems like a good thing. It looked clean but our socks and feet were BLACK after walking on it. The office said it’s due to the pavement outside but I’ve never had this happen and it was pretty gross. Couldn’t even get it out of the socks. The master bath shower is pretty tight and there was maybe one little ledge to set things on. I spent $10 at Publix and put a rack over the shower head to have a place for two people to set shampoo, conditioner, soap etc. The view is amazing but (and this is the same in all units) the lanai has windows above a low wall. I'm guessing this is a building code thing but if you're sitting in a chair on the lanai you can barely see over the wall to see the view. If I owned the unit I would put a "pub-style" table out there with stools so that you could see better. The sheets and pillow cases were clean and, honestly, I think that the bedspreads were clean but they looked grubby. The chairs around the dining table had tacks poking UP so if you weren't careful you got poked when you sat down. The living room rug is diiiirrrrtyyy....probably same issue as the tile, but gross to live with for a week.

Room Tip: As far as I could tell, any of the 3 buildings that are by the beach W, the tower and Y (I think) wi...
