“Don't miss it if you are an orchid fan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Beautifully presented botanical gardens alongside the Sarasota Bay. Prime attraction is the orchid house with the most extraordinary collection of orchids. Beautiful presentation. The rest of the gardens concentrate on epiphytes and bromiliads. Beautiful exhibition of carved and painted Costa Rican Rain Forest Masks until April 19, 2013.

“Stunning gardens offer refuge for quiet reflection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

The stunning gardens of Marie Selby offer delights for the senses. Not only are there magnificent plant specimens, the docents in the gardens are passionate and knowledgeable about both the plants, as well as the history of the gardens. We started out in the orchid conservatory. After viewing a number of orchids, along with educational information, we found ourselves in a wonderfully fragrant area with the most lovely perfumed flowers. It was sheer delight. Then there were the bonsai specimens, very pretty. The garden weaves around through the property that includes a koi pond, benches, cactus and succulent garden, lawn, gazebo, fragrent flowers, and a meditation area. We spent several hours enjoying the gardens as well as the house, which was showing a collection of mask art created in Costa Rica. It is a must see attraction in Sarasota, and well worth the $17 admission.

“Lovely park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We love to visit gardens when we are on trips. This was a nice one. Lots of bromeliads and orchids. I had never seen the weird banyon trees with the multiple trunks. Worth a visit.

“Beautiful Tropical Gardens on Sarasota Bay”

Wonderful place to take a peaceful walk. Be sure to see the Japanese Gardens with the beautiful Koi and take a stroll along bay. Perfect place for a wedding.

“Marvelous representation of Floridas plant life.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I while needing to fill a little time in between visits found this little gem by using trip advisor. 2-2.5 hours worth of some of the most beautiful blooming and vegetative plant life you will ever see. While I'm not the green thumb in the family I found the Selby botanical gardens a relaxing change of pace from the usual Florida vacation spots. Affordable, knowledgable and courteous staff.
