I took my fiance to Sanibel for his birthday in April of 2006. We like to find little privately owned motels when we go to the beach, so when I ran across this place I thought it would be perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but had a couple of minor issues. First, when I called to make the resrevation I was lead to believe that the place was almost completely booked up, so I felt rushed into making a decision. When we arrived, there was no one there. We stayed for three night and with each hour that passed, we thought someone else would show up. But as it turns out, we were it...so it was really quiet the whole time. The only other issue was that we started to run low on towels and toilet paper very quickly, and we weren't sure how to get more. The manager never came around. We didn't speak with her until we were ready to check out. But anyway, these things are very minor and in no way would affect my decision to go back. The rooms are extremely cute, and they were very clean. We didn't see a single bug the entire time, which is out of the ordinary for Florida. The kitchenette had utensils in, the appliances worked, and the plumbing was fine. But beyond the necessities, it was very charming. I will say, though, that the free bikes, etc. that are available are not kept up and will probably not be of any use to you. When we arrived, we looked at the bikes and found that all of them had flat tires. But the walk to the beach isn't long, so we didn't care.
I would definitely recommend this property if you're open to staying in a place where the management would laugh at you if you asked about room service. It is not the Ritz, but it is a charming little inn with all the comforts of home just a short walk from the beach.
