As a yearly visitor to the island, I had never tried Traders. Seeing 2 cars in the parking lot at 1pm should have tipped us off. I know that June is the "off season," but there was a distinct lack of "buzz." Featuring an eclectic decor and huge dining area, they also feature a limited menu, typical Sanibel indifference towards visitors and very over-priced food that is marginal at best.
I had an almost $12 cuban flatbread sandwich with something that resembled dehydrated vegetable chips that had absorbed moisture from the air which formed an almost rawhide-like texture. With 95% of the plate untouched, the waitress offered no compassion or substitution, just a bill and no "thank you."
My wife had a vegetable wrap which she described as a little greasy.
We definitely will not be repeat visitors.
