My 23 year old daughter and I decided to treat ourselves
to tropical paradise and escape the winter chill in Chicago.
Flying into Fort Myers proved to be easy and affordable
easing our fears that we wouldn't be able to navigate. With
that in mind, I would recommend renting a car with a GPS
navigation device.... it simply made our excursions out at night
stress free since the island can be darker without the city
streetlights we have back at home!

Unit 201E is owned and beautifully maintained by someone
who has your comfort in mind. Its located on the west side
of the island and just steps away from the beach. I was
a little confused by some of the other reviews of Blind Pass
Condominiums and could only evaluate that their units were
at the further most point of the development. This particular
unit is at the closest point to the beach... steps to the
tennis courts, across the bridge over the lagoon and you
are already on the beach. My daughter and I were able to
enjoy the in unit provisions of coolers, beach mats, chairs,
umbrellas and towels.... there are even floaties and sand toys
for the kiddies! The shelling was phenomenal.... lets just say
we cleared out one suitcase to take our treasures home!

Checking in was a breeze... if you opt to arrive later in the
day or on a Sunday when the office is closed, there is easy
access to your key in the lock box. The office was very
available during the week to answer any questions, helpful
with rentals of bikes and simply made the stay very easy.
While the development itself is older, it also makes for
mature and beautiful landscape.... everything is maintained
to the max and the pool is fenced with plenty of lounges and
easy access to the club house/bathrooms. But who can resist
the gulf breezes?

We left winter chill, at the end of November .. going into the
first week of December and found each day to be perfect
weatherwise. We have been in Florida in March so this was a
first for us and we found it delightful.... mid 80's everyday,
low humidity. We woke up to sunshine and swaying palm trees.
Without fail we would head for the beach... the sun is still
strong at that time of year, so do use the sunscreen! The shelling was irresistable and so relaxing that even though
we would plan ahead to consider an excursion, we found ourselves spending the day on the beach, shelling & reading.
We were visited almost daily by dolphins and after driving through the bird sanctuary, we discovered every bird there
was at our shore ... simply too relaxing for words! While the
beach had enough people to be content with, at no time did
we feel it was crowded. Without fail, we would start our day
on the beach and then end it toasting the sunset.
From that point we would head either into Captiva or Sanibel,
both are of equal distance from this condominium which
added to the charm. We could have dinner in Sanibel,
shop and then head to Captiva for outdoor music and dessert...
what more can you ask for? There is plenty to do on Sanibel
in terms of shopping, cruises to watch the dolphins, restaurants;
and the same said for Captiva. Do check out the jazz at
Ellingtons.... they have a wonderful young star and the music
and decor is tops. There is a two drink minimum if you decide not to dine and listen from the bar; but its well worth it.

The interesting thing is that we were drawn more to the
atmosphere created by the owners of this condo unit. The decor
is beautiful, tropical and tasteful. Comfort is at the heart of
it with a perfectly appointed kitchen with all the appliances.
We ended up cooking 2 meals a day and going out for
dinner each evening. But if you want to stay in, there are also
grills by the pool. The in unit wash/dryer keeps your packing
to a minimum, which I will remember for our next stay....
The bedrooms were large and comfortable.. my daughters
bedroom had two double beds and a large private bath.
The master has a king bed with its own private bath tub and
shower! Families can easily stay here but what I liked about
the layout is that if you are traveling with another couple,
you can certainly still maintain privacy because the bedrooms
are separated from each other, each one is on either side
of the living room.
There is a large dining area, and a large living room with
stereo, dvd player, tv, books and games. The owners were
thoughtful enough too to provide plenty of menus and reviews
of local restaurants and places to go. It was helpful too to read the guestbook to see what everyone enjoyed the most in terms of eateries and places to go. The condo was filled with beautful
natural light and the unit was very quiet, we slept like babies!
The decorating had me pretending it was my new island home!

We'll stay here again in a heartbeat. We visited friends a few
years ago at their rental in Captiva and it was double the price and did not begin to compare..... we couldn't have been happier with our stay.... from the easy drive to and from the airport,
the sunny weather and the comfort of our 'island home'.... you
won't be disappointed!

  • Liked — Great comfort and beautiful decor... the close proximity to the beach, shopping, dining.
  • Disliked — Absolutely nothing to complain about .. you need a car to get into town, but that also translated to it not being crowded on the beach!

We first stayed at Blind Pass Condos in 2004 - since then I’ve been back 7 times. These condos are furthest east on the island and as such are quiet and peaceful. It is a short walk (less than 5 mins) from the best beach on Sanibel, Bowman’s beach, where there are loads of shells to collect, birds and often dolphins to watch. The path to the beach takes you across a bayou where you can usually see herons and egrets. I once saw a baby alligator in there as well! The gardens are well maintained and the pool is large, though sometimes busy. There are also bbq’s, tennis courts and canoes you can use. The condos situated mid-way between the main shopping and restaurant area on Sanibel and Captiva Island (about a 10 minute drive in opposite directions). A car is definitely required to get around, but there are plently of bicycle paths if you are feeling fit! If you arrive after the office is closed you can pick up your key from a lock box. I have done this every time as I come from the UK, and I’ve never had any problems.
We always stay in the same unit, E201. It is a 2 bedrooom, 2 bathroom unit very nicely decorated in a tropical theme. Over the last few years the furniture has been updated regularly, keeping it fresh and new and very comfortable!! Everything you could need is in the condo, including beach chairs, a cool box, and some beach toys!
I highly recommend the Blind Pass condos, especially to anybody who is looking for a vacation to unwind and get away from it all.

We stayed at blind pass from Sept29-Oct7. The condo was clean, up to date and had everything you could ask for. We packed some beach towels, chairs and kitchen items that we never used. The beach was wonderful for shelling. The amount of shells you can pick up is just amazing. However, with that said the beach is not good for swimming, There were very strong waves, not to mention the high E Coli levels. When the kids got hot from shelling my husband and I would pack them up and take them to the pool. Just FYI if you do have small children, ours are 2 and 4, you may want to rent a cart to bring your supplies to the beach. It is a beautiful walk they will get to see several birds and insects but their little legs will get tired. Speaking of insects make sure you bring bug spray, the mosquitoes were bad. We had a wonderful time and plan to return hopefully next year. I think we may try the condos closer to the lighthouse since the beach is a little calmer.

Blind Pass Condos are the best thing on Sanibel Island! We were in unit A205 recently
and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The apartment is large and airy-2 bedrooms and 2
baths and a large open living/dining/kitchen space that opens onto a screened porch.
Everything seems new and immaculate. The décor says VACATION here with touches such as a
border of vintage post cards and the singing 'Take Me to the River' fish plaque painted
to match the bathroom décor. We loved hanging out at the little wooden bridge connection
to the beach. It spans a lagoon visited by many rare birds-you think you're in a Disney
animal park. And we did develop The Sanibel Stoop from seashelling on the beach. Nice
pool, too. The staff in the office were friendly and helpful re loaning us tennis
raquets and suggesting restaurants. We'll return.

Just returned from a trip to Florida, the second week of which we stayed in Condo F210 at Blind Pass. We had a fantastic time. The condo was very well appointed, great appliances in the 'bistro' style kitchen which made 'cooking in' a pleasure. The beds were oversized and superbly comfortable, as was the modular corner sofa, which all 4 of us could lounge on in the evenings. TV in lounge and both bedrooms. Perfect for a family of 4 (children 7 and 10).

We had read reviews on Trip Advisor before booking, the short walk to the beach, was in our view very short ,and lovely, as it takes you over the bayou. It also meant the the beach was virtually deserted, especially in the mornings when we went looking for shells. We were able to see photos of the condo before we booked, which saved us the problem experienced by one contributor renting a condo which was poorly furnished.

Yes, you do have to drive to get to most places, but it means that it's peaceful. The pool was lovely, we had it to ourselves a lot of the time (must say tho' if it's one on the biggest on the island I wouldn't like to see the smallest! - but fine for us). We kayaked on the bayou (free to renter), cycled in Ding Darling reserve, took a dolphin cruise from Captiva. Loved the fact that no 'chain' stores/restaurants/etc apparent.

Can't wait to return. Recommended for peace and relaxation.
