“Sanibel Tradition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

Always a great meal and fun & friendly atmosphere. For 20+ years! we've started our Sanibel vacation with a trip to The Lazy Famingo. Again in 2014, it was just as good as anticipated all winter. Grouper sandwich is legendary. Key Lime pie is best on the island. Beer is always cold and staff is always perky. Can't wait to come back.

“Small but fantastic.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

This place is a Captiva find. Small but extremely friendly, with great food for a very reasonable price. This is the smaller one on Captiva not the larger one on Sanibel. Absolutely loved the place.

“Good food but service slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014 via mobile

Stopped in for lunch - food is a 5 - food was very good - grouper sandwich, chicken, Cesar salad, clam chowder -- all great. Parrot hot sauce great. Service is a 2 1/2 - slow and not attentive. Atmosphere - 2 Seats a but dirty.

“Recommeded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

A most enjoyable experience. There were very few patrons there on a Sunday morning just after opening, and we got prompt, friendly, excellent service.

The grouper filet was huge and well cooked. The mound of fries was twice as huge. They were well cooked but very underseasoned and disappointing. The only sauvignon blanc offered matched well with my lunch.

My wife got the mussels marinara and deemed them very good. There certainly were a lot of them on her plate.

The decor is modern fish shack but it looks natural rather than kitschy. A good “old Florida” feel to the place.

This is a superb place to go for lunch.

“Good fast lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

Need a quick pit-stop to grab lunch versus going to DQ's, this is the place. It is on Periwinkle Road, just about 1.5 miles after you get off the causeway bridge. To get into the character of being on Sanibel Island, the menu has those seafood items, plus other items for landlubbers. My wife had the raw clams (which according to her, were delicious) and the conch chowder. I had the fried shrimp, which were very well done, as they were not over battered as some can be. FYI, there is another Lazy Flamingo on Captiva Island. Overall, a very good quick Lunch spot.
