We could not have ask for a better place to bring our family, huge menu and friendly service, the waitstaff was very up beat and very willing to work with us while we took our time looking over the menu. This place is very busy , and has a great island feel to it! Dont pass this place up, we ate there every night we were there on Sanibel!!
The restaurant is not exactly clean. It's your typical run down restaurant that could use new carpeting (we think that's what the smell was coming from) and a good overall cleaning. The service was just okay. It took the waitress 10 minutes to initially come to our table and she was slow as molasses. The food was decent, and a bit pricey. If you ordered a sandwich you had to pay extra for french fries. The meal didn't come with the sides. We had a shrimp appetizer, two sandwiches with fries and one kids meal and 4 beers and the meal was $70.00. Just a tad pricey for lunch. The overall experience was okay.
Been in Fort Myers for the past 19 years and i loveeeeeeeeeeeee going too the Heron whenever i can. Every thing is wonderful from the time i walk in the door till the time i leave. If you don't feel like and Islander from the atmosphere then your probably in the wrong place . The Management and Staff go out of their way too make you feel welcome, and the food makes you want too come back time and time again. Anyone that doesn't like the Heron is obviously having a bad day as it makes mine everytime i know i am going there. Do yourself a favor...........give it a try........bet ya go back as i do!!!!!!!!!!
The restaurant was dirty and old, the servers were unfriendly and rude, telling us to "wait a minute" when we asked for refills. Waitress never returned to see how things were and let me tell you...the food was HORRIBLE and extremely overpriced!! I ordered the "Better BLT" and it had one slice of bacon, one piece of lettuce and one tomatoe on an over toasted piece of bread. When we finally were able to get someone's attention, they recooked the sandwich and never asked again how things were.
I would NOT recommend this place to my dog!
I live in the area and we frequent Sanibel Island. My recommendation is the service is poor and the food isn't that great. There are enough places to go...Doc Ford's...Lazy Flamingo, Bubble Room that you don't need to subject yourself to horrible service and just okay food. When we spoke to the manager about the rude waitress he did absolutely nothing!!!! Definitely pass on Hungry Heron.
