We ate here several times on previous visits and enjoyed it, so we had to go back again this year!
It was abysmal.....dirty tables, run down fixtures and shabby decor. Then there was the food....fried, greasy and unappealing. Never again!

had a great meal at the bar.
I have been visiting Sanibel since I could barely walk, and McT's has been included in every trip. I understand they have changed management and ownership a time or two, but the basic restaurant hasn't changed much.
I will admit that service and quality lacks consistency, but I have noticed that the decrease in quality and service is proportional to the number of people in the restaurant. Their kitchen space appears to be limited and cramped which can cause delays in service. Maybe try to avoid Friday dinner rush.
If you hit the restaurant at the right time, the food is excellent. Appetizers are generous (try the fried mushrooms with the cajun remoulade sauce!). Generous portions on entrees with great flavor.
Even if you get there during a crowd, the food is generally worth the wait. The outstanding bread will keep coming as will your choice of delicious appetizers. Styrofoam "to go" boxes are a plus as you will most likely want to take left-overs back to your hotel or resort for a late night snack.
Typical Sanibel indifference towards visitors with one exception: our most recent waiter Derek. He is by far the most professional, nicest, friendliest and sincere waiter we have ever encountered anywhere- period. Ask for him!
May 30, 2008-The atmosphere may be ho-hum, but the food was great. We had excellent soft shell crab and Dover sole, which were mouth-watering. If you want seafood, this place will deliver. Drinks were also well made.
I think the draw of this restaurant is the all you can eat shrimp & crab legs, most people around us were eating either one of those offerings. My husband & I has the shrimp cocktail which was good & the buffalo shrimp which was heavily coated and a costume for really small shrimp. Our entrees were ok, grouper encrusted in pecans which sounds good but the nuts were raw and not cooked with the fish so it really was something we could have passed on. I had the scallops, broiled they very tasty but a little sandy. Wait staff slow, unfriendly and the restaurant was only 25% full so it wasn't that they had too many tables. Not on our top 3 Sanibel list for sure.
