We are not familiar with Sanibel Island and the first night we were there, we didn't feel like driving far, like to Captiva or Ft Myers. Most places we passed appeared closed or empty and then we came upon DOC Ford's. The parking lot was full and it looked lively but not jamed. We were seated almost as soon as we got there and were waited on immediately. We started out with the raw oysters and they were fresh, sweet and delicious. I ordered a cheeseburger prepared rare, expecting medium as most places do. What a nice surprise to get a quality, rare hamburger! I selected cole slaw as my side and it was a winner. It is fresh and homemade. The other dinners ordered were fish and chicken entrees and everything ordered was very good. We had a couple of drinks and a relaxing dinner. We had an appetizer (the doz. oysters), 6 rum drinks, two main entrees, a cheeseburger platter and 3 desserts to go. Our bill was Iess than $110.00. I think that is very reasonable, especially for the quality of food. I don't know if any of the locals were dining there but it appeared many the customers were familiar to wait staff and other patrons so they must have been repeat customers. The dress was casual and the diners ranged from couples to entire families of several generations. We liked it so much we went back for a late lunch our last full day on Sanibel. Food was still good as was wait staff.
