I am very surprised to read some of the negative reviews here. We ate here three times in three days in the first week of July, 2008. The reason we returned so frequently was that we enjoyed it so much. Normally when we visit a new place we like to try many different places, so it was quite unusual for us to return a 2nd time, let alone a 3rd. We are a family of four (two kids under 12) and each of us had something quite good each time we went. The first time we went it was mainly because it was nearby where we were staying and it sounded interesting. We were not disappointed. I had the Grilled Salmon entree salad and it is one of the few times I recall saying, "wow" when I first ate something. We liked it so much that we stopped in the next day for lunch in the middle of a bike ride to and through the Ding Darling wildlife center. It made a very long, hot ride much more enjoyable. Then, on our last day, when deciding where to go for supper, we decided that we liked it so much that we would return there. Highly enjoyable, and now I can proudly sport my Doc Ford's Sanibel T shirt. You could call Doc Ford's a "sports bar" - they do have a bar and there are sports on the TVs - but it's more of a casual, family place with an upscale menu.

All is Good - I hate being on vacation and having to pay high prices for mediocre food. Well - Doc Ford's is not like that! The food is excellent, the prices are good, they don't rush you, the kids meals are snazzy. We come here every time we are on Sanibel. Sometimes more than once! The Yucatan Shrimp are awesome! We eat our first and last dinner on the Islands here every year. I can't say enough about Doc Ford's. Everything is always delicious and we never have any complaints. Service is always fast and friendly and we leave stuffed. (It is vacation! ) We had a variety of things here this trip but tops on our list are the fish tacos and the grouper sandwich. The pulled barbecue pork sandwich is huge and very good. The only thing I can ever say that isn't positive is the busboy tries to take your plate away before you are finished eating! This happens to us consistently and it is the very same guy every year. I remind my kids to "hold onto your plates" when we visit Docs!

The food was really good. We liked everything we had. Service was good too. The building was ok, but we had a great time.
