We eat our first and last dinner on the Islands here every year. I can't say enough about Doc Ford's. Everything is always delicious and we never have any complaints. Service is always fast and friendly and we leave stuffed. (It is vacation! ) We had a variety of things here this trip but tops on our list are the fish tacos and the grouper sandwich. The pulled barbecue pork sandwich is huge and very good. The only thing I can ever say that isn't positive is the busboy tries to take your plate away before you are finished eating! This happens to us consistently and it is the very same guy every year. I remind my kids to "hold onto your plates" when we visit Docs!

The food was really good. We liked everything we had. Service was good too. The building was ok, but we had a great time.

I've been to Doc Ford's a number of times on my annual trip to Sanibel. I visited Doc Ford's again this week for dinner and we were very disappointed.
While the atmosphere is nice, the drink selections are good, the food and service were not.
Our waiter mixed up our drinks, he did not come back forever to check on my friend who was waiting to order hers, one friend had a fly in her drink and he took even longer to get her a new drink.
He checked on us immediately after our food was delivered which was not enough time to find out our food was not good. I asked how the mkt price ($14!) grouper sandwich was seasoned and he said just salt and pepper. Well, when it came it was practically blackened with pepper which was overkill. My friend's burger was so peppered she couldn't eat it. The chicken sandwich was prepared the same.
I think they over-season all the food to make it more "Cuban" but it's not good. He never came back to check on us and another guy cleared the table so he didn't even see we didn't eat our meals. I wish it was better, but next year I will only go to drink at the bar after eating a good grouper sandwich at the Lazy Flamingo.

We have been to Doc Ford's a couple times over the years. It is okay for a sport's bar to watch a game and have a drink and that is all it is good for. The food is below average - sandwiches and fries are ok. The shuck and eat shrimp is the only thing worthwhile on the menu. The Mojitos that they promote have very little alcohol and are over priced.

On our last visit, and I emphasize LAST, our waitress left with our credit card to pay the bill and came back with the bill and no card. We questioned the manager and she said she could not make our card "reappear" and we must have lost it. What a joke. I don't mind a mistake but don't blame your mistake on the customer.

Poor customer service for a subpar dinner. Don't waste your time.

They never did find or return our credit card.
