“A great restaurant on Sanibel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

This is my second year going to Doc Ford's and both times I have been tickled with the food and atmosphere. I took my young daughter (age 2) and found their children's menu appropriately priced with a good selection--something many restaurants fail miserably to do. The adults' food was great as well. We all ate heartily and enjoyed our choices. Order the banana leaf snapper or Mahi Mahi. You won't be disappointed. The service is on par with the rest of the island as are the prices. A great choice if you're on Sanibel.

“I don't do sweet drinks, but........”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Our trip through Florida involved one 100’ day after another :(

One afternoon found us coming back from Captiva and Doc Ford’s looked good in the review. We both had local fish sandwiches which were the best I have had other than personally fresh caught. To accompany it, I choose a sweet drink which was so good, I had to order a second. Since returning, I have tried the same drink at other restaurants and will not do so again till we get back to Doc Ford’s.

Those of you who are into contemporary novels will apparently be familiar with Randy White and Doc Ford’s; the associated gift shop and memorabilia were interesting.

I still prefer Hawaiian Rum :)

“Consistent Island Favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Since it's opening, Doc Ford's has offered a consistent and reliably good Island menu ranging from lighter dishes to interesting full entrees. I continue to be disappointed that they gave up using grouper in the excellent fish tacos and do not serve the shrimp tacos as does the Ft Myers Beach location. In season, the wait can sometimes be long but still a favorite on Sanibel, and the expansion of the outdoor patio has helped. The staff is always friendly, cheerful and efficient.

“A Must Every Year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013 via mobile

We visit Sanibel for two weeks every year and Doc Ford's is always at the top of our dining list. This year was no exception...was there twice! We love the casual atmosphere and menu of so many flavorful creations. Whether you like to munch on appetizers, enjoy local seafood prepared with a Caribbean flare, or are a meat lover, you can't go wrong! Great service and bar too!
