“Nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We chose Gramma Dot's as our last dining experience on the Island. We arrived just as it opened (11:30 am) and found a short line. The seating capacity (both in and outside) is limited but they were able to seat our party of seven. The food was tasty but the chips that act as a side for many lunch options were either cooked in dirty oil or were overdone. It's location inside the yacht club accounts for it's slightly higher prices. My own silly complaint is that I love fountain pop and didn't give a second thought to paying $1.80 for my soda. However, they only offer refills on coffee and tea. Who does that anymore?

“Oysters Outrageously Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Five adults for lunch on a beautiful sun filled day received excellent food and service for a lunch. Especially notable were the Crab Meat Meatballs and the Fried Oysters appetizers. No leftovers and no regrets. Restaurant was crowded; wait time and service were good.

“Great local place with great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

This is a great little restaurant located at the Sanibel Marina. It has both seafood and non-seafood entrees. Everyone in my party said the food was excellent (which doesn't happen very often). I'd recommend this as a great place for lunch.

“Not a bad place but overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

This place is an institution- which is not to say that it's all that great. We've eaten there many times over the years, so this review is not based on a one time experience. You kind of get an old Florida vibe from the place and, to their credit, they don't overreach like so many of the restaurants here. The setting is nice as it's in a marina with lots of yachts bobbing in the water. It's basically a salad and fish sandwich place. The fish is fresh albeit simply prepared. I agree with other reviewers who were underwhelmed with the home made potato chips. Its strictly a paper napkin and plastic glass and plate place- at least at lunchtime. They lose a whole TA dot on their bread. After all, the bread makes the sandwich and their bread/ buns are pretty bland and industrial. They lose another dot for value as the place is expensive. I believe the grouper sandwich was $16 and the sides consist of some grapes, a slice of pineapple and the aforementioned chips. That's it. They get you in and out and they are kid friendly but this is a high priced diner and not fine dining. We have no aversion to spending for a nice meal so it's really a value issue as opposed to parsimony on our part. All in all a pretty bland experience but pretty much on par with many of the other places here. Sanibel is not exactly a destination for epicures!.

“Lovely location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

If you want to dine on the water this is about all this restaurant has to offer. The homemade chips are over done and horrible, I would much rather have cold French fries. The fried grouper was over cooked and dry with so much batter that it overwhelmed the fish. I had the fish and chips, my friend had the whole fried grouper which had a much lighter batter and she said it was very good. Service was fast and efficient. I think my favoriet part of the visit was waiting in the small area on the water.
