We had breakfast here one morning since they advertise the "world's best breakfast." The food was really good. I had an omelette that was cooked just right and potatoes that were just the right amount of crispy and not greasy. My huband had granola pancakes that were very large and very good. I thought the homemade preserves were also very good. The place is really small, but we didn't mind, we came for the food. This is also one of the few places we ate on the island with waitresses who seemed experienced and unfazed by being busy. When you see them carrying four plates on one arm you know they know how to wait tables. We were pleased with the service and the food, but the price keeps it from getting a top rating from me. Breakfast for 2 ended up costing us about $25. That's a little steep, but we would eat there again.

“Best place for breakfast on the Island!”

This is an absolute favorite and a must when on Sanibel. This is one of the many things that my family looks forward to every year. I would definitely recommend the french toast with lighthouse potatoes. I love the atmosphere, the food, and the ability to have a good time. While it may be a little noisy and a tight squeeze, it is definitely worth it all. The noise and amount of people there also shows that it must be good, otherwise so many people wouldn't be there. Please give it a try!

“Life's too short for rudeness”

Maybe it was just a bad day for the hostess. Though if you are in the people business , you should be a people person.
After riding our bikes many miles to get to this recommended spot my husband and I waited quite a few minutes till we were given a table in a rather cramped room. At first it went well with a waitress getting us water. As we were waiting the hostess was mistakenly followed by a couple. The women turned nastily and told them that they had to wait as she had other people before them. It was how she said it ! My husband was shocked into commenting that " wasn't very friendly like." She must have overheard him because as he was paying she slapped his money into his hand without a smile, thank you or "your welcome ' even though my husband said it to her.
Ironically the food was good. I had the ocean frittata and my husband had an omelette. The OJ was fresh squeezed and our waitress did fine. They make a homemade strawberry jam that's thin. However there are many places to eat and life is too short for us to deal with short tempered people on a vacation.

“Decent but overrated”

Average food - convenient, as we stay on the east end of Sanibel island - but by no means the "Best Breakfast in the World". Very cramped seating. Always a wait to get in - speaks more to the lack of any competition at that end of the island, rather than the quality of the food. I recommend the "call ahead seating" feature to avoid the wait. Those are the people who are seated ahead of the others who are waiting but didn't call ahead. On the positive side, the staff is efficient and friendly, and you do feel full when you leave. We go there to eat ocasionally, but certainly don't rave about it as some people do.

Mike and his staff continue to provide a great meal for a reasonable price. In our many visits to Sanibel over the years, this remains one of our favorite places to eat, especially for breakfast. Yesterday the 4 of us had blueberry pancakes (made with Mike's yummy whole wheat pancake batter!), the seafood frittata, a delicious omelette and a wonderful seafood, broccoli, mushroom and swiss croissant. All were yummy, the coffee good and hot, and the service (as always!) outstanding.
