This is the worst breakfast I've ever eaten. The buckwheat pancakes were not edible and nothing else I had was even average. Won't be dining there again. My Mom and I go there every year and we tried it twice. Bad, really bad, both times.

We went along to the Lighthouse Cafe to sample the "World's Best Breakfast ". We had a 10 minute wait so we checked out their funky shop which is next door. When we left there were a lot more people waiting.

Whilst it wasn't the world's best breakfast as claimed, it was certainly good. I went for the bacon and eggs which were done perfectly and hit the spot. More importantly from our kids viewpoint they had Belgian waffles, something they had been disappointed to find were missing from Amy's Over Easy Cafe menu.

The service was very efficient although not overly friendly. The dining room is a little on the small side but it made for a good lively atmosphere and it had plenty of character.

Compared to Amy's Over Easy Cafe we found the service, food and ambience to better at the Lighthouse Cafe.

My niece drove down from Ocala just to eat at the Lighthouse Cafe. She highly recommended the Harvest Grain pancakes which were good. The service was horrible. The waitress literally banged our plates on the table when she served us. It was busy and I have ate at other restaurants that have been busy, but I have never had a waitress just bang a plate down in front of me. I found with the exception of the Blue Giraffe and Jerry's Market that most of the restaurants in Sanibel had issues with their wait staff.

We had breakfast here one morning since they advertise the "world's best breakfast." The food was really good. I had an omelette that was cooked just right and potatoes that were just the right amount of crispy and not greasy. My huband had granola pancakes that were very large and very good. I thought the homemade preserves were also very good. The place is really small, but we didn't mind, we came for the food. This is also one of the few places we ate on the island with waitresses who seemed experienced and unfazed by being busy. When you see them carrying four plates on one arm you know they know how to wait tables. We were pleased with the service and the food, but the price keeps it from getting a top rating from me. Breakfast for 2 ended up costing us about $25. That's a little steep, but we would eat there again.
