First visit to this establishment and we all left impressed with the food. The only reason I will not give them 5 stars is because we were seated upstairs near a window and it was very hot which detracted from the meal.

We enjoyed the crab bisque, the rosemary bread, and all of our entrees. Our server was friendly and sweet and everything came in a very timely fashion without feeling rushed.

I would definitely recommend them.

Visited last week and liked the restaurant, but of the six dinners served 3 were very unappealing to look at and even less pleasant to eat. Maybe we were unlucky?

We love the Matzaluna. We eat here every trip and we love the food. Best eggplant in the world! (ask them not to put a lot of cheese on top) The rosemary bread with the garlic/oil dip is amazing.
This trip the server was just plain odd. It took her awhile to become acclimated, the place had just opened, but this continued through out the meal. She just about flipped out when my son asked for a small bowl of anchovies on the side. It was clearly a pain for her to get the anchovies. She was a little frazzled and kept talking about her life outside of work. Service was poor and we had to ask for many things. I was feeling sorry for her and was planning to give her a little more than the standard 20% tip until the bill came. With our party of six, the 18% gratuity was automatically added on, when I mentioned to her that I would normally tip higher, she went into a big offensive lecture on how "we tourist are horrible and especially the ones who look like they can afford to don't leave enough tip. She'll never see us again because we are on vacation, so why should we care if we stiff her." She made sure to repeat three or four times that it is customary to leave an additional tip. Here's my tip: you pretty much ruined our dinner by running your mouth the entire time. You should have shut up and actually concentrated on serving us. Needless to say, I did not add to that 18%.
We will go back because we love the Matzaluna, just hope by then she's not working there.

After experiencing some other terrible places on Sanibel and Captiva, this place was a delight. A young guy working at one of the gift shops suggested it so we went. We were happy that we did. The atmosphere was really nice and the place was open and clean. We both enjoyed our meals and drinks. The menu had a lot to chose from which was great. The paper table cloths and crayons were funny but it made the place feel more casual and relaxed which is what we were looking for. All in all it was a good experience.
