“Most amazing place to stay on Sanibel Island Florida”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Sanibel Cottages Resort is a unique place to stay & a true find.
We have been vacationing here for over 25 years. A great relaxing & fun place for us and also for our family.
The units are amazing always very clean and everything you need for a fantastic vacation
is right there for you.
Here are a few things that we love when we travel to Sanibel Cottages-
the pristine beach, the swimming pool and spa, the beautiful gazebo, the small fishing pond,
tennis courts plus more.
The staff is friendly and helpful and do a great job of keeping Sanibel Cottages perfectly beautiful.
We have traveled all over Florida and the islands and have found Sanibel Island and Sanibel
Cottages to be our favorite place.

Room Tip: Units facing the Gulf of Mexico are the best. Also the first floor units are best for families.

I loved staying here - we were lucky enough to have a cottage near the sea. The poolside is lovely and a very sociable spot. Being so near the sea you can easily make use of the quiet beach and spend hours watching the sea and the pelicans. As with most places on Sanibel, you need a car to get around but nothing is too far away. Beautifully appointed place to stay - the large towels you can purchase in the reception are awesome :)

A wonderful condo to share time with family or friends. The layout of the rooms are perfect, the kitchen and laundry area is very workable and living area is relaxing. We loved sitting on the screen-in deck playing cards, watching the sun set. The pool is great and the ocean is in your back door. The island has very good restaurant selections, lots of activity and bike trails all along the island. We enjoyed the nature preserves and beaches. The sea shells are like no where else! I see why Sanibel Island is rated one of the top beaches in the United States

Room Tip: Second floors allow more ocean view.

We have been coming to Sanibel Cottages for nearly 30 years since they were constructed. The property has been consitently surpurbly managed--year in, year out. there are 7, buildings of 4 units each, 2 units on the second floor and 2 uints on the third floor. The ground flor is the parking garage, given the new hurrincane-based building codes. Only one of the seven builidngs (The Palms) has an elevator.
The property is heaven on earth. If you are looking for a swim-up bar, please go to elsewhere. If you want to escape the rat race and whine down with sunset walks on the sand bar, you'll love it hear. The pool is great and our kids all learned to swim here and in the gulf just steps away.
If you own a car and can drive a few minutes everything is available here. Fabulous resturaunts, boating, fishing charters, sailing, Ding Darling Preserve, and endless opportunites within 5 or 10 mnutes. We are partical to buying fresh Grouper, Red Snapper, or Tuna and preparing on the grill, and enjoying the ocean view from the screen dinining area.
There are tremendous golf courses both on the island (about $50 in May) as well as within 20-30 on the mainland.
The resort is fully Wi-Fi enabled and cell service is widely relaible.
If you want a supurbly relaxing vacation with family and friends this is the place. This has nearly all the beniefits of a beachfront house without the hassels of homeownership and rental.

Room Tip: Only "The Plams" units 120, 119, 118 and 117 have an elevator. Otherwise it is one or two...

We have visited Sanibel Cottages twice before with family and finally purchased a condo in the Islander unit. We feel so fortunate to have an escape that means so much to us that we can count on at least one week a year to relax, revive, reunite and thoroughly enjoy each other and our surroundings. The fact that it is not a "resorty" resort is one of the biggest perks! Just true bliss...what else does anyone need?

Room Tip: I don't think you could go wrong with any room...have always been there "off season" t...

I have been been coming to Sanibel since I was a child and am happy to now be bringing my own children to this beautiful island! I have stayed all over the island and can honestly say that this has been our best stay yet. We were able to swap out time share here. The units are huge and very very nice. The grounds are very lovely with beautiful tropical plants and a pond in the middle. Everything there had a very regal feel! A++++++++

Gorgeous property and very clean. Just a few drawbacks for my husband and I. Management has limited hours. We are timeshare owners and traded in. We usually stay at more resort like places and this was definately not resort like at all. No bar or restaurant on property or nearby. If you like quiet and relaxation, this is absolutely the place for you. Pool is small so during season, you may find it crowded. Also, there are no lounges or umbrellas to sit under on the beach. You must rent them from the office. Also, no amenities provided for the condo. Make sure you are aware for this fact. You must buy everything you need, down to salt and pepper if you are going to cook. Again, most of the places we have stayed have been high end condo resorts so it is unfair to compare a small condo property to any of the larger places we have stayed. This is really a beautiful place as long as you love seclusion and want only a nice pool and beach and plan on driving somewhen for drinks and dinner.

Room Tip: The Sunset Building has great views of the Ocean.
