“"Loved the romantic inn!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

My husband and I loved staying at the Island Inn. Our view of the beach was perfect, the staff was excellent (We loved meeting Cookie...she is great!),and the location cannot be beat! The Inn has a beautiful old southern Florida charm and is relaxed and romantic. The surprised us with a complimentary bottle of champagne when we arrived and a note saying "Enjoy your romantic vacation~Island Inn". We are going to recommend it to all our friends and we will be back...very soon. We stayed in the Matthews Lodge on the second floor-great view. The pool was never crowded and breakfast was great-amazing blueberry scones. Shells everywhere!

Room Tip: I did not see a fitness center and was unable to select a "not applicable" rating for it...

The Inn was very nice. The staff was GREAT! I really liked you had wifi and didn't have to pay for it. Also a computer and a printer to print out your boarding pass to go home. It really makes me mad when I go to a BIG hotel and they nickel and dime you for wifi and the small things you need.

The staff was always there for you with an answer. If it was for extra towels or restaurant info or directions to some where. AND they always smiled.

I would go back without question.

Room Tip: We rented a cottage and it was nice and private.

Hi George,

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to leave your comments concerning your experience.

The Inn feels strongly about providing commonly charged amenities (beach chairs, beach towels, wifi, light Continental breakfast, etc.) as Complimentary, allowing our guests to truly get into the vacation state of mind.

We’re so glad our staff and accommodations met your expectations and we will look forward to your return from NJ! :-)

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Island Inn and LOVED it. The rooms were very clean, the staff was exceptionally nice, and the location was beautiful. I would recommend this place to anyone I know. If I had to pick something to be wrong with it I could only come up with one small, little thing. The continental breakfast wasn't the best but it had the basics. If you don't mind eating fruit and pastries for breakfast then the quality of what they provided was still very good. Our room was in the Mattews lodge and very close to the beach. The rooms looked like they have been newly remodeled but the inn's charm still remained in them. Sitting outside in the screened in patio looking out onto the Gulf was a great way to begin and end the day. We will definitely be staying there again next year.

Me and my wife visited Sanibel Island and the Island Inn for the first time this May. The staff at the Island Inn were fantastic and I felt like I was back in time with their hospitality. The restaraunt was nice although the continental breakfast could have been better. The lobby and sitting area was full of island information and displays of shells. The room was very nice for the price with a view of the Gulf and beach was just amazing with all the shells. I recommend this place and plan on going back this October for my anniversary.

I stayed here for two nights in early June. The hotel was nice, old time-ish, and seemed pretty well kept. Our room was in the Starky Lodge #239. It had a nice view. The staff were helpful and very friendly.

Even though the power went out for most of our first night where, we were at the beach anyhow.

The breakfast was pretty good. Pastries, muffins, etc. The beach was nice and a good location for shelling. Just watch out for the "no see-um" bugs! They got the best of me. (You can buy repellent at the front desk, I just didn't see it until we checked out)

I had a great stay here though and would recommend this hotel for sure!

Room Tip: Starky Lodge on the Second Floor has great views of the ocean

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Island Inn.

You mention a great tip concerning the no-see-ums. As they bother some folks more than others, be sure to have repellant available, especially at dusk and dawn. We do sell an all-natural repellant that works great.

Again, thank you for your review and stay. We hope to see you again soon. :-)

I stayed at the Island Inn in Sanibel on June 5 & 6th 2012. This was my 2nd time there, this place is GREAT!! The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfy too. The enclosed porch we had was terrific. Sitting out there was a great way to end a fun-filled day of shelling, biking and exploring the island.

This is my 2nd review of the place, I would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in the Kimball Lodge on the 1st floor. We had a wonderful view of the Gulf.

The bathrooms are spotless, we had a fridge & coffee maker in the room as well. The staff is very helpful and super friendly. You get a free continental breakfast as well. They also have a pool, great shelling on the beach, kayaks and bikes to ride as well.
The Inn is close to everything. You are about a 1/2 hour away from Captiva. Your near the shops & local restaurants.
It was fun staying here - love it!! The way the Island Inn is set up, it reminds you of old time Florida. This Inn has alot of history. If you want a clean, quaint, friendly, beautiful place to stay while visiting Sanibel-stay HERE!

Room Tip: Ask for the Kimball Lodge-the rooms on the 1st floor closest to the beach/Gulf are the best! Awesome...

We stayed here for five nights visiting family and enjoying the slow off-season beach experience. The hotel is older but clean and well kept. We had a suite with a screened in balcony and a view of the Gulf. The waves crashed all night and the beach was literally right outside our door. It was quiet and perfect for a romantic getaway or family fun. The continental breakfast minimal with sweet rolls, coffee and OJ. I could have used some cereal.

Thank you for your review and stay at the Island Inn.

We’re glad you enjoyed our pristine, private beach. Being that we have the lowest density on Sanibel (10 acres and 550 feet of beach, but only 49 accommodations) our guests enjoy a quiet and private beach experience year round.

Thank you again for your stay and we hope you will be able to return to Sanibel Island soon.
