Stayed at the Casa Ybel from July 3-July10. I was a bit concerned due to the number of negative reviews on this board...fortunately, my concerns were not justified.
The Casa Ybel is a wonderful property. We stayed in a one bedroom condo (on the 2d floor...would recommend asking for the first floor, as the bldg is on stilts, so the 2d floor is really the third floor and there are no elevators). The condo was just like the pictures...very clean and livable. The bedroom was fine (after all, we only slept in there...). Beds were a bit soft, but we were so exhausted at the end of the day that we slept fine. No noise from the parking lot. COuld have easily accomodated two more people on the sofa sleeper.
Two tv's...one in the bedroom has a VCR; in the LR a DVD/VCR combo. Full cable.
Kitchen is excellent...fully equiped with everything you have at home (I would just suggest bringing S&P and other condiments). Refrig/stove/micro/etc are all full sized. Condo also has a blender and toaster.
The grounds are very clean. Hammocks abound for your lying pleasure. Pool was clean, although a bit busy. The pool bar is ridiculously expensive ($9 for a frozen drink), but the resort looks the other way if you bring your own to the pool.
Have 2 kids (4 & 9). There were a ton of activities for them to do, and a ton of other kids for them to play with.
Cleaning service was erratic (on 2 days, they did not come until 4pm). However, they did a fine job once there. Note that the 2 bedroom condos are timeshares, and that is why you have to pay for cleaning service in them (they don't tell you this little fact....).
Finally, be sure to ask for a room away from the pool area, as that area has all the activities as well and gets a bit noisy.
Baileys is a short bike ride down the street, and has everything you need (and the prices are not too jacked-up). We stocked up at Publix right before the causeway.
Finally, we loved the Bubble Room. Doc Ford's is highly recommended. McT's was good, as was Cheeburger Cheeburger. RC Otters was average.
Note: Everything in Sanibel is expensive. Parking is $2 an hour at a public beach lot....all the restraunts are a bit pricey. Just know that going in, and you will be fine.
