My Mother won a trip to Casa Ybel and from the reviews on Trip Advisor and the pictures on their website, we were VERY excited. When we got there, we could see a very outdated, unclean property. What truly surprised me was that everything was completely renovated after Hurricane Charley at the end of 2004 (told to me by management). I thought it was great that all of the condos faced the beach, but the housekeeping was a joke. There was so much dust and dirt in our room it was disgusting. We found the a/c we thought was a closet and the filter was so caked with dust, it was clogged. We called and had someome replace that. After trying to clean around where my son would sleep (very dusty plantation shutters, dust caked in the wicker headboard and all over the lamp and shade right by the bed) I called the front desk to tell them. I like to give the establishment the opportunity to make it right as this could be a one off. They called back to tell me that there were no more 1 bedrooms available to move us into, but that they had alerted the housekeeping department and they would do a thorough cleaning in our room. As we walked past the housekeepers cleaning other rooms, we noticed a disgustingly dirty mop, just sitting on the pavement outside one of the rooms, no mop bucket in sight. This meant she was using either sink or tub in the room to clean the floor. When we got back a little early, we decided to sit at the outdoor grill and give her more time. The grill had many broken and missing bricks and the top metal portion was loose and coming apart. We decided we really didn't want her to mop our floors with that mop, so we went in while she was vacuuming. She was almost finished and had not vacuumed some dirt that was in the living room. The dust was still thick as could be on the lamp shades in the dining room. Also, we had visited the beach and outdoor pool and bar earlier in the day. We asked for beach chairs and an umbrella, which they quickly brought. The chairs were very dirty, falling apart and not in good condition at all. Such a shame, because they have prime real estate, condos that are newly renovated and should not be so dirty and uncared for.

My wife and I brought our 2 1/2 year old and our 15 month old here from May 13-20, 2008. We couldn't have asked for more. Everything was excellent, the people were friendly, and the entire complex was spotless.

The pools are beautiful, and the children's pool was perfect for the kids. Ranged in depth from 1-2 feet and there was a closet full of toys for the kids down at the pool area.

Coconuts was great, but a bit pricey. We ate an early dinner once because of convenience, and went back a second time for lunch because the food and service were that good. Kenny was one of the best, friendliest servers we had on the island, and my wife is still talking about the Chicken Caesar wrap and the Margaritas.

We had no complaints and will definitely be back.

My wife and I stayed at the Casa Ybel for 5 nights from 5/11-5/16/08. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the property. We found the room to be average, but the gulfront location was great. Being 50 yards from the beach was a big plus as was the view of the gulf from our screened-in lanai. We had a bit of a problem in that roofing and siding work was being done on our building for the better part of 2 days there, which was an annoyance. I will say that the resort manager, Amy, was very helpful and understanding of our complaint and went out of her way to make things right. I would return to the resort again, as our overall experience was nice. There were, however, a few drawbacks to the Casa Ybel Resort. Firstly, they do not serve breakfast anywhere on the resort, so you either have to cook yourself or drive a mile or two for breakfast. Secondly, I was not impressed with the maid service. The room was not cleaned to our expectations, but it did not diminish much from our overall experience. The pool and beach areas are great as are the overall grounds. We went off-season, so the rates were moderate. This was a nice place to stay for our first visit to Sanibel, which we hope is the first of many.

We visited Casa Ybel April 19-26,2008. The management heard we were celebration our anniversary and upon our arrival there was a wonderful fruit and cheese basket placed in our suite. The king suite was gulf front clean confortable and with a wonderful view of the gulf. The porch was great with a ceiling fan to move the air when warm. Just a short walk across the lawn and we were on the beach with the great shells. We had dinner at the Thisle Lodge on the property. Excellent foor and the service was wonderful. Will we go back? YES

“Why do they remove the soap??”

For $500 a night, why do they remove the kitchen sponge, dish soap, hand towels, hand soap, tissues, etc. I went out and bought these items because I saw the cleaning people taking them out as we arrived. As we were leaving, they removed everything I bought instead of leaving it for the next person. There was very little used of these items. They should be provided along with as many towels as you want and FREE beach chairs to sit on. I will never return to this place.
