Stayed from 7/5 thru 7/9/08. Rain caused the short walk through the dunes to the beach to retain standing water for our entire stay. We were forced to walk though some nasty water each day. I wasn't too bad but management should lay down some boards, or something, so guests don't have to walk though it.

I was somewhat concerned after reading several reviews of the two bedroom suites. Some recent reviews were very critical. We found the suite exactly what we were expecting. It was mostly renovated, imaculately clean and had a nice view. Our request to be near the pool was respected and the personel at the hotel were very accomodating.

I learned that winter is the best season for shelling and we will return then. There is a shell museum close by and I would recomend giving it a visit.

This is the 6th time I visit Sanibel and the 4th time I stay at the Sanibel Inn. My family loves this place and we have beautiful memories of our vacations there. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is friendly and attentive, The jazz at Ellington's (the club on the premises) is top notch, and if you have kids, they will love staying there. They provide yopu with pool toys, bikes for riding around the island, tennis racquets for using the courts on the premises, etc. I can't say enough nice things about the Inn and I know I will be returning as soon as I can!

We spent three nights at the Sanibel Inn and couldn't have been more pleased. Value was excellent. Prior to arrival, we learned that the rates had declined and the reservation staff granted us the lower rate for an extended stay. The front desk was very accomodating and changed our suite when the furnishings were not what we needed. The Inn gounds crew was active in their work on the property.

Our party of six (age range 11 to 76) had a comfortable, well decorated suite. Everything was in good repair and clean. The beach was well served by a polite attendant. The snack bar provided good food at a reasonable cost.

We plan to return.

We just returned from my first trip to Sanibel Island and the Sanibel Inn.

I loved the island and the hotel for the most part but, was a little disappointed with the beachfront suite layout. Although the suite was definitely beachfront and had a nice view I would have preferred the layout of the room be swapped so that you could see the beach from the bedroom instead of from the living room. Just my personal preference, I guess. I just love to lay in the bed and wake up looking at an ocean view instead of a parking lot.
Other than that, the suite was very nice, clean, spacious and just as it looks in the pictures.

The hotel pool and pool bar were very nice and all of the staff from the front desk to the housekeeping staff to the beach attendant were very nice. The pool bartender (whose name I forget) was extremely nice, friendly and always remembered everyone's name which was very nice and made you feel welcomed.
