My wife and I just completed a 6 night stay at the Seaside Inn in Sanibel and are already looking for a way to get back here as soon as we can. Everything was just about perfect and I'm not sure I can add to anything to what the previous reviewers have already said. The staff is always scurrying about from task to task getting things done while allowing the vacationers to just enjoy themselves at the resort. It's quite a marvelous place.

I will add one word of warning, though. The tiny black bugs called 'no-see-ums' will eat you alive at night if you're by the beach. The locals said to use Skin So Soft and to completely cover your exposed skin with it. We didn't and literally ended up with scores of bug bites that took about 7-10 days to heal up. This seems to be the ONLY real drawback of Sanibel other than the fairly high prices on the island.

We recently spent five nights/four days at the Seaside Inn and loved every minute. The staff is great, everyone is very friendly and helpful, and the management cares. Information on what to do and where to eat, including informative brochures, was provided at check-in. We had a beautiful gulfview room with a private screened (= fewer bugs) balcony with chairs and a table. The room was perfectly clean and had a small refrigerator, a microwave, a coffeemaker, a safety deposit box, and complimentary wireless internet access. We didn't miss a thing. Each afternoon, a basket with basic breakfast items plus fresh fruit and water was delivered to the room, which felt nice. The property is beautiful and directly on the beach, and the pool is perfect. The front office has two complimentary newspapers every day. One can borrow DVDs and books free of charge, and there are even bicycles available to the guests (which we would have used, had it not been so hot). The hotel provides beachchairs, sunshades, and towels for the beach/pool, which was fantastic. We are very pleased with our experience at this hotel and very much recommend it.

  • Liked — Closeness to the beach, quiet and relaxed atmosphere, nice staff
  • Disliked — Nothing, really!

Have stayed at hotels in and out of the country and this one gets it right. The location is perfect for what the island has to offer. The only thing that would of made this stay better was to be able to check in earlier and to check out later. The management company that runs this location has several other locations on the island and I will be staying at anyone of them the next time I visit this great little island. The entire package from the front desk to the housekeeping to the grounds and heated pool was excellent.

Three of us (co-workers) chose to stay at Seaside Inn based on rave reviews, which were very accurate. When we arrived Friday evening, the front desk clerk was very informative telling us about the free extensive DVD/book library, bikes to check-out, and even circled the tide chart in a brochure, as well as island restaurant information. The cottage was very clean, and the breakfast basket was in the refrigerator as promised. If you would rather have a full breakfast, the Lighthouse Cafe is a short drive or bike ride up the street. Of course, there is a full kitchen in the cottage, but who wants to cook on vacation? Umbrellas and beach chairs were complimentary, and were set up for us each morning of our stay. One member of our group has been visiting Sanibel for almost thirty years, and noticed a decline in the island friendly service over the last couple of years. We were all very impressed with the staff at the hotel-definitely island friendly. This is our fifth girlfriend getaway, and we all agreed it was the best, thanks in part to the Seaside Inn. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

  • Liked — Cleanliness and free use of umbrellas, bikes, and DVD library.
  • Disliked — It was so great, we had a hard time packing up and leaving.

I would highly recommend the Seaside Inn. The location is super, the beach is great. We sincerely hope to go back next year. We went the week after Labor Day. This proved to be an excellent time to visit Sanibel Island - it was pretty quiet. We chose the Seaside Inn based on reviews here on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. This is not a fancy place, but it is perfect in every way. Check-in and check-out could not have been easier or faster. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We stayed in a beach view room on the second floor including a private screened balcony which was a real plus. The bedding was very, very nice. The bathroom is equipped with soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner and hair dryer. The kitchenette is small but a real advantage. We ended up purchasing some coffee, filters, creamer and sweetener at Jerry’s because we like to linger over our coffee in the morning and you get only a 4-cup package of coffee in your breakfast basket. As for restaurant recommendations, we especially enjoyed The Timbers. The shrimp bisque was incredible and our waiter was excellent. Breakfast (ocean frittata) at the little Lighthouse Café was scrumptious. We also enjoyed the Island Cow (breakfast) and Doc Ford’s (very good mojitos, had a yummy penne and rock shrimp dish). Ate at McT’s - the food was good, but barstools were uncomfortable. We tried the Ding Darling Reserve and it was just OK. Really didn’t see any wildlife. Rented kayak but was unable to go into the observation area due to strong tide coming out. Drove through and didn’t see anything, although the Shell Mound trail was interesting to walk through for fauna. Bottom line: Sanibel is great and the Seaside Inn is a wonderful place to stay.
