“Perfect stay!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

We were freaking out after reading all the negative comments about the Seaside Inn. We arrived last Saturday prepared for the worst and were surprised with the best!! Our adorable cottage was nestled just steps from the beach and the heated pool. The resort was extremely quiet and peaceful, especially considering it was sold out for the week. Our room was straight out of Pottery Barn and was extremely clean, cool and comfy. Our children had an amazing time with all the amenities! We all rested well and are dreading going home tomorrow. The staff was very helpful and accommodating with room cleaning time since we have little ones who nap, took special care of us with extra breakfast basket treats for our kiddos and we had everything we needed. We could not have been happier with our stay. I can guarantee we will be back! If you are looking for Island Charm, it's here!

Tips: Rooms are cleaned every other day but the staff is happy to supply more towels, sheets or whatever. This is not a big deal, most Sanibel locations do not clean daily!

Breakfast basket was more than enough for a family of 4. We took the extras with us for kid snacks during the day.

The kitchen is large enough for breakfast and lunch prep and to stock up on drinks, snacks, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage....especially right on the beach!

I just read the reviews and was shocked at the negative responses! This is the fourth time I have been there, and granted, the hotel is older. But I am very picky, and I found the place to be exceptionally clean and charming. There always seems to be one or two units being re-carpeted or re-modeled...isn't that a good thing? The washer and dryer work well, and the outdoor grills are handy. The pool is spotless. And free bikes...I just don't know how much more they could offer! The staff is more than pleasant and always ready to assist in any way. Guess I was a bit offended at the negative comments...but on second thought, some people are never satisfied. All I know is that my room is booked for next Feb, and I just can't wait!

Room Tip: The rooms facing the beach are fantastic...but there really isn't a bad location at the Inn.

I didn't have any advance knowledge of where to stay in Sanibel, but had many recommendations over time about what a beautiful place it is. Well the island didn't disappoint and either did my internet find, The Sanibel Inn. I found this hotel to be the perfect place to ground my beach getaway - a huge departure from the chain hotels and conference centers I often stay at for business travel. The Sanibel Inn was immaculate, the staff was friendly and he beach was really only footsteps away. The pool was a lovely respite on the one day the wind was a bit too brisk for seaside lounging - others seemed to enjoy it more often, but it never felt crowded or noisy. I borrowed a bike one afternoon and took a twirl around the east side of the island... This was one of those unexpected perks that really adds value... The spur of the moment ride around the block was just what I needed and their were plenty of bikes to choose from. All around a great stay! I will definitely return to Sanibel and The Seaside Inn.

We stayed at the Seaside Inn last week for five nights. The hotel is very well located for the private beach and was clean. The beach is wild and natural but that's excellent. No tacky burger and ice cream booths. Some of the rooms were out of commission as old carpet was being removed and i guess they were also being updated. We paid around £220 per night which was a lot given the room we were allocated but Sanibel is expensive because of its location. We were given the end ground floor room nearest reception with air conditioner units on its outside wall which served the whole block. In March this wasn't a problem as people in other rooms didn't have it on at night but in mid summer guests in this room may find it noisy as the units serve the block. The room looked nothing like the photos on the website. It was beachhut style so was ok but it was rather dark as we were on the end of the block and other guests could walk past on the open verandah so we had to keep curtains drawn. I do think that the owners should consider putting rails on the verandah so each room has privacy and prevents other guests and hotel service staff wandering past as you sit having your morning coffee outside and this happened on several occasions! The breakfast basket was good for the first few days then for some reason the items reduced. First few days we had lovely danish pastries, muffins, bagels, cream cheese etc but at the end just the pastries. Coffee is provided but bring more teabags if you like more than one cup during the day. Good local shops and eateries within cycling distance and we used the free bikes on several occasions. The hotel was quiet and very peaceful and staff pleasant and helpful. It is a lovely location which made it for us and best of all we saw dolphins swimming just off the beach one day. We would consider staying again but in a different room! Fabulous for wild birds. Ospreys, brown pelicans and egrets all around the beach area. Go and visit the nature preserve and take the tram for a well informed guide.

Room Tip: Rooms inside the block away from air con units

We lodged at SeaSide Inn Jan 22-Jan26, 2012, and it was wonderful. We had a long day of travel to get there, however, we arrived and it was nice to sit on the patio, and hear the waves fold in the dark. The staff was wonderful, the hotel is older, but it's so cute, and beach-y feeling you really are never inside, and the pool was amazingly clean!! The pool never made you feel gross or dirty when you got out. The whole stay was very enjoyable, and I would recommend it to anyone. The kitchen is small, but you can make a bite to eat, and the fridge worked wonderful to keep our food cold, this place in my book, is a wonderful option for lodging. Thank you Seaside Inn, we will for sure return and lodge with you again!

We have stayed in a cottage. The furniture are not amazing but everything is very clean and comfortable.
The place is very peaceful. If you come from Clearwater Beach, like us, you may, at a first sight, be disappointed by the beach as it is more wild. But later on, we enjoyed the tranquility of the place and we were delighted to walk at a peaceful pace, looking for shells.

Don't waste your time eating the breakfast basket : nothing good in it!

Very pleasant stay

Previously stayed here at the Seaside Inn, where in it's former life it was clean, well maintained and friendly. Now, the carpet is filthy, the bedding disgusting, and everything falling apart. I do not know what happened, but would not advise anyone to book this hotel until they get their act together again. Yes, it is on the most beautiful beach in the world, but so are three dozen other hotels. The most apologetic and kind night manager somewhat made up for the condition of his hotel, by expressing his condolences to us. Apparently we were not the first potential guests to be disgusted. We went down the road to another hotel where they obviously care about their guests. End of story.

Room Tip: Do not choose any room.
