Ok after reading all the bad reviews, I was VERY apprehensive about this resort. Do not believe these reviews. We had an awesome time.We just returned from this vacation and had to post this review! The staff was plentiful and always smiled and said hello when passing by. The food at the 2 restaurants were the best on the entire island and the resort was clean and well kept. Our room was great, 2 bed/2 bath and looked brand new. We stayed in the "J" bldg about 300 feet from ocean. We saw dolphins several days in the water, the sand was sugar sand and the water was turquoise. We had one small little issue one day with ants but after bringing it to the attention of the staff, they took care of it within 5-7 minutes and apologized. We asked housekeeping for additional shampoo and received plenty. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The drinks by the pool were a little "pricey" but you are on an island on vacation so keep that in mind. We left the day that the hurricane threat was near but the staff was great at keeping us posted. There was hardly anyone there in August and that was just fine with us!

Just got back from Sundial. At first, disappointed in aging look of buildings and decor of 2 BR condo. But it had lots of space and lovely view of gulf. Front desk staff nice and friendly, but small pools, long walk to main pool, no drinks or service at small pool near unit. Beach is nice but faces south, so don't look for sunset. Tons of shells and sparse pool usage made kids happy. But adults would have liked more. Gym was useable if a bit dungeon-like. Maid service was good to have, but one day did not appear until 2 phone calls and 6:15pm. I think I would return. Just not sure. Glad to return before Hurricane Fay appeared!

  • Liked — view, large condo
  • Disliked — lack of amenities, cost of drinks at main pool, uneven maid service

My family stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with an ocean view in July and since it was "off" season the rates were decent. Our room was amazing. I get the feeling that as owned condos it might be hit or miss depending on the unit you get but I was very happy with mine. The balcony was HUGE, screened (to keep away the bugs) and right on the beach. Great view. The decor inside was amazingly beautiful. There was art and paintings and leather sofas. We only stayed one night but I would have loved to stay longer. When we arrived we were told the room wasn't ready and that they would call my cell if it was ready before check in time. I doubted that would happen and saw it as a tactic to get you to not pest the front desk staff every 10 minutes but sure enough they did call us when our unit was ready!! There were several pools and I did partake of the small one by our building. It was nice, nothing special but close to the beach.

We booked a room for 4 back in May 08. I asked if there were beach chairs and umbrellas as my mom cant take the sun. I was told that they were free. When we arrived there was a sign saying that they now charge $10 per umbrella! I asked at the front desk to waive the fee. I was directed to 3 people ( none were available) and after 30 minutes we gave up and paid for them. All their advertisements state they are a resort but with the high price we paid for the room we think it is a joke.
Also our room was not ready until 350pm. (check in time 3pm) No apologies given.
We will give this "resort" a miss next time we visit Sanibel.

We stayed at this resort for a family reunion of 20 people, and we booked 5 different accommodations. We each had the two bedroom/two bath full kitchen units but a couple of us had the Grand Gulf View and the rest of us had the Garden View. Each unit is decorated differently (they are individually owned) and were all maintained well. There is maid service everyday complete with refills for your coffee and new towels, etc. The resort is beautiful! Great location, clean beach, fantastic pool (which we used well into the night until about 10pm) and an eco-center which is fun for the whole family to experience and the resort offers fun activities for the little kids. We didn't eat at the restaurant(s) since we did our own cooking, but we did order drinks from Crocodile's pool bar. ($10. for a "tropical" drink). The whole resort is "cashless" so you use your room/charge card and pay it all at the end when you check out. No need to carry cash around. Unfortunately it rained the first few days we were there, but the staff got a game of Bingo going...maybe they could have had a few more activities for the adults in inclement weather to keep everyone occupied. We did take advantage of the work-out room which was quite updated and clean. Fresh pool/beach towels are provided everyday at the main pool. We booked an apt. with the resort photographer for pictures of our whole party by the beach. The photographer was patient, witty and kept the shoot moving along very nicely considering the amount of families he had to work with. I recommend doing that for a great memory/keepsake. You'll view the pictures on line about a week later. TIP: it costs $6. to go back to the island from the mainland, so do your shopping before you go, or go to the large shopping center on the island. No need to head back to the mainland for anything! The resort even has a convenience store on the premises. I highly recommend this resort; the staff were friendly, the entire place was well maintained; the location is beautiful (get in some early walks on the beach-the variety of shells is incredible!) and the price is very fair.

Get out there and get some sun!! Enjoy!
