We booked a room for 4 back in May 08. I asked if there were beach chairs and umbrellas as my mom cant take the sun. I was told that they were free. When we arrived there was a sign saying that they now charge $10 per umbrella! I asked at the front desk to waive the fee. I was directed to 3 people ( none were available) and after 30 minutes we gave up and paid for them. All their advertisements state they are a resort but with the high price we paid for the room we think it is a joke.
Also our room was not ready until 350pm. (check in time 3pm) No apologies given.
We will give this "resort" a miss next time we visit Sanibel.

We stayed at this resort for a family reunion of 20 people, and we booked 5 different accommodations. We each had the two bedroom/two bath full kitchen units but a couple of us had the Grand Gulf View and the rest of us had the Garden View. Each unit is decorated differently (they are individually owned) and were all maintained well. There is maid service everyday complete with refills for your coffee and new towels, etc. The resort is beautiful! Great location, clean beach, fantastic pool (which we used well into the night until about 10pm) and an eco-center which is fun for the whole family to experience and the resort offers fun activities for the little kids. We didn't eat at the restaurant(s) since we did our own cooking, but we did order drinks from Crocodile's pool bar. ($10. for a "tropical" drink). The whole resort is "cashless" so you use your room/charge card and pay it all at the end when you check out. No need to carry cash around. Unfortunately it rained the first few days we were there, but the staff got a game of Bingo going...maybe they could have had a few more activities for the adults in inclement weather to keep everyone occupied. We did take advantage of the work-out room which was quite updated and clean. Fresh pool/beach towels are provided everyday at the main pool. We booked an apt. with the resort photographer for pictures of our whole party by the beach. The photographer was patient, witty and kept the shoot moving along very nicely considering the amount of families he had to work with. I recommend doing that for a great memory/keepsake. You'll view the pictures on line about a week later. TIP: it costs $6. to go back to the island from the mainland, so do your shopping before you go, or go to the large shopping center on the island. No need to head back to the mainland for anything! The resort even has a convenience store on the premises. I highly recommend this resort; the staff were friendly, the entire place was well maintained; the location is beautiful (get in some early walks on the beach-the variety of shells is incredible!) and the price is very fair.

Get out there and get some sun!! Enjoy!

This place is great for young families! We have 4 children ages 4-8 and we felt the activities, accommodations and service were fine. Yes, the place could use some updating (lots of mirrored walls in the room), but do the kids really care about that?! We put the kids in the camp for the day (9-1) and went to lunch off property!
Maid service was great, maintenence was prompt (minor problem with closet door), VERY friendly staff in the kids "Eco Center".
The one thing we noticed... there are charges for almost all activiites for the kids. Crafts by th epool etc.
If you're looking for an easy going family vacation, this is it.

We booked a Studio in May for the long fourth of July weekend. We requested a second floor or above room that had been updated. We were told that our unit had been totally upgraded. Upon arrival, the desk clerk had us checked into a first floor unit. I did not want to be on the first floor and told her about our request. She did make the change, however when we arrived at the room we were so disappointed. This room hadn't been upgraded/updated at all. Rusted dishwasher, dirty walls, cracked tiles, mold in bath, etc. I went back to the front desk with a list of problems and told the desk (a different lady this time) that the room was unacceptable and a health hazard. She (Juana) asked if I would have patience and she would do what she could to move us. I came back a half hour later and Juana told me that they were upgrading us to a 1 bedroom fully updated unit with a gulf view free of charge.

The room that we were finally placed in was gorgeous!! Granite kitchen, new appliances, stone shower, new furniture, flat screen televisions, great view, etc. Book this room if you can...H308. The view from the balcony was great....overlooking the well manicured grounds and a nice gulf view. We loved this unit! The resort itself is well landscaped , the beach very clean and complimentary beach lounges, umbrellas and towels. The pools (there are 5) were clean as well. Our 6 year old son loved the game room too. When we called for extra towels, they arrived within 15 minutes!!!(never have I received a request for towels that quickly from any hotel) We didn't want to leave the island or the resort. Very relaxing vacation after the room fiasco was taken care of. Employees throughout the resort were very friendly and always smiling. Thanks again JUANA and the on duty manager on the room change. We will definitely be back!!!!

The Falcon-Parrella family!

We stayed at Sundial for the fourth of July and it was the worst place we have ever stayed at. I won’t go into great detail on everything because I would be here all day but I will leave you with key points.

• Each condo is owned by individuals, so it is up to each owner to up keep the condos. So each room is different
• The carpet was so bad that I didn’t want to let my baby crawl on the floor.
• The couch was broken down to the point you could feel the framing. I also had to take some blankets to cover them up so we could sit down.
• My mother actually broke out with a rash from her skin touching the couch.
• When we checked in they told me I had a crib in the room but there wasn’t and it took them 5 hours to bring me one after complaining 4 times. When they did get there it was after 9 at night my LO was so tired. OMG! It was so old & gross, there was no way I would feel safe to put my LO in it.
• They told us we could move us BUT I wouldn’t have the Gulf view in the other building. Heck we paid more for the GULF view and I was told I was steps away. Maybe be steps away, light jog and a short bike ride away. We could see the gulf from the screen balcony past the two buildings.
• The people at the desk where not helpful and they acted like they really didn’t care. While I was down there a couple times I did notice that others kept coming in to complain.

The Island is very beautiful and we go down there every year for my husband’s company. We thought we would try something new since the whole family was coming down. Never again, My MIL also had problems with her room and the hotel staff.
