4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We stayed at Song of the Sea 2 years ago and loved it so much that we stayed here again this year. Perfect location. Nice rooms, although older, they are well kept. Steps to the ocean, nice pool. Friendly staff. We like that it's mainly older adults and has many repeat guests.
Can't wait to go back next year!

This was our thirteenth vist to Song of the Sea,.
Not the newest or best appointed, but the best beach access plus a warm and friendly staff make this a worderful resort for a vacation.
Cheryl at the front desk is warm and friendly to all that encounter her in the course of their visit.
The daily breakfast is very well done and with many choices, pastery, fruit, waffles, ect.
Only 30 rooms make it quiet and peaceful, very relaxing.

My husband and I just returned from a quick get away Nov 1-5, 2013. We stayed here after reading many reviews. The location is wonderful...direct path to a beautiful beach...full of shells. The staff was very friendly. Having the bikes to ride was a plus. The daily breakfast was handy and allowed us to just go to the beach and come back to the hotel for a bite to eat. The only complaint that my husband had was the size of the bathroom....but we understand it is an older complex. With that said the room was very comfortable and in a great location. After traveling the island we think that this is an excellent location to get to the beach, main road, lighthouse, shopping and sunrise. We will definately stay here again and can not wait to go back. Thank you for keeping the Island simple and beautiful.....

Room Tip: Higher floor you can probably see the ocean, but all rooms look out onto the pool area . Lower rooms...

We were married at the inn 14yrs ago and just had our 4th visit. All previous visits were not disappointing at all. Truly lived up to their website offering 'intimate getaway and romantic ambiance'. Our last stay was in September 2013. I think they need to update their site. It was not so peaceful, tranquil and romantic. This was the first time we had seen any children at the resort. I guess we have been lucky to not have seen kids in the past. Although they don't advertise 'no children' I just don't picture kids running around when I read 'intimate getaway and romantic ambiance". The rooms are quite spacious and the grounds spotless. Housekeeping did a great job on the room. The complimentary breakfast was just enough to start your day. The location is easily accessed from the causeway.

Room Tip: Have stayed in both Beachfront Suite and Poolside King and both have been great. Easy access to the...

My husband and I spent a week in October staying at Song of the Sea. We were so excited to get the same room as 4 years ago. We had a queen poolside room. Literally 15 ft. from the pool. The room was clean and well attended to every day. The staff friendly. We only had breakfast as a snack. We went to Jerry's to buy a few groceries the first day. The room has a full refigerator and microwave. Chair and umbrellas at the beach are handy. We did have some children at the hotel, but they were always with their parents and were not disruptive at all. We rented bikes from Billy's and was given 1 free day because they delivered the bikes the same day to the hotel. They deliver and pick up for a small fee. Wonderful! Doc Ford's and Sandbar were 2 new restaurants we tried, that were both awesome. The Island Cow is always Great! I must say that upon check out we were able to use the hotel computer to get our boarding passes printed, awesome!!!! Hope to be back in Sanibel again soon! Thanks for a GREAT stay Song of the Sea!

Our last visit to Song of the Sea had been 15 years ago, so we were delighted to find that it was just as wonderful now as it had been then! After disappointing vacations to other Alabama and Florida gulf coast resorts, we were so glad to have a real island experience again. High rise condos cannot compare to this small intimate retreat. It's a beautiful step back in time where bicycles are the ride of choice and fast food and franchise restaurants do not exist.

The one problem we had with our room was addressed immediately and cheerfully, breakfasts were always delightful, and the walks on the beach were shell-filled! Wish we were there now!

Room Tip: Ground floor room was good on the knees.

Our recent September visit to Sanibel and Song of the Sea was wonderful. The hotel itself was comfortable, clean and quiet, no frills but very nice. The staff was outstanding, very friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The breakfast was good, not a lot of choices but enough to keep us going until lunch, and the outside eating area was a pleasant touch. The atmosphere was very calming and relaxed. We would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: We had an ocean view suite which was lovely, but the pool view rooms had nice views of the grounds...
