The amount of hotels and accomodations are overwhelming when you research Sanibel island. We choose Song of the Sea because of it's size (only 30 rooms), pictures on the WEB and other trip advisor reviews.

Well, let me tell you, it was the perfect pick. We consider ourselves very discriminating travelers. We want privacy, great accomodations, moderate price and most of all a quiet place to relax.

Song of the Sea offered all three. The property was beautiful with lots of lush greenery and plenty of space. Although they were completely booked most of our trip, we hardly ever saw anyone. We choose a Gulf front Suite #4035 Catalonia. It was on the top floor and being on the end, we had our own private entrance. The suite had a livingroom with small kitchen attached. The king size bed was very comfortable and the sheets were wonderful.

There was always an over abundance of fresh clean towels and personal products (shampoo, conditioner, etc) for our use.

The complimentary breakfast was great, plenty of fresh fruit, muffins, danish, waffles and cereal. We had a great choice everyday. Breakfast was served on the patio around a beautiful pond and the gentle sound of the water was very relaxing while enjoying your morning coffee. Free newspapers were also available for those who wanted to keep up with the world outside of Sanibel.

After a short walk to the beach, there were complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas waiting for us. (Many other hotels charge for these). The beach was wonderful and only a short walk to the Sanibel lighthouse.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a quiet relaxing vacation. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.

We will definately be going back to Song of the Sea later this year.
Sanibel has done a wonderful job at keeping their island lush and beautiful. Although they have many accomodations on the island and it is a tourist destination, you would never know it. It is not your typical highrise beach resort.

We spent 4 nights at the beautiful Song of the Sea. We were overwhelmed with the choice of hotels on Sanibel, so we ordered a visitors guide which made it much easier to compare hotels.

We chose Song of the Sea because it was a small hotel and much more intimate. We did not want to get caught up in the typical tourist scene of crowds and small children like Ft Myers Beach. It was quiet and relaxing. We had a poolside room and it was very spacious and clean. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on away from home. The bathroom was a little small, but a good trade off for the full size kitchen space. They even had dishes and utensils!

There was a nice complimentary bottle of wine in our room when we checked in. It was a nice start to our romantic vacation. They had complimentary breakfast every morning and it was
impressive. Not just your average muffins and danish with coffee or OJ. It truly had a little something for everyone.

The entire staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the island. Housekeeping was great, they kept our room immaculate even with all the sand we tracked in everyday.

It was a short walk to the beach where they provide chairs and umbrellas. They had complimentary bicycles for touring the island. Additional amenities like tennis, golf and a restaurant were located just next door at the Sanibel Inn. The hotel grounds and surrounding areas were beautiful and lush with native plants and wildlife. And of course, the shells were everywhere! The hotel is conveniently located near the majority of restaurants and shops.

The Song of the Sea is not a super luxury hotel, but it is very charming with an old world feel. Comfortable, clean, beautiful, and a great value. I definitely recommend it if your looking for a more intimate setting where the beauty of nature is all around.

We stayed at Song of Sea for our 15th Anniversary and loved it. Nice little quaint place. Exactly as described on line. Pleased with everything. Complimentary breakfast was perfect and we ate outside at tables. There were always beach chairs & umbrellas available, we were told if there were none there, notify front desk and they would bring some out. Pool was very nice and quiet. Property grounds are immaculate and our room was made up every day with fresh towels, etc. Nice that the room had a microwave, coffeemaker, refridgerator, etc. We loved Song of the Sea and will definately keep it in mind for future trips.

This property has improved dramatically from 2003. It goes to show how investing in people and facility can result in a resort that may be the best on the Island. It may not cater to all, but for the Guests that decide to invest a huge chunk of hard earned vacation dollars for a stay here, it's money well spent! All the Employees at Song of the Sea strive to make your stay extremely comfortable. The impression I get is that they really enjoy working at this beautiful Resort.
The rooms are inviting and very comfortable, and I highly recommend room #4120/Valencia for the best value. This room is located on the 2nd floor end of the pool facing building with a corner veranda that views the Ocean. The rooms in this building are offered at a lower rate. Rooms in the other two buildings are not worth the upgrade, unless you need the space of the Oceanfront suites.
Without tax, rate was $225 per night for 6 nights. This rate is a very good value for a place of this quality,
April was a great time of year to go to Sanibel. Clear blue skies, temps in the mid-80's everyday. February stays tend to be cold and limit Beach time.
Third stay here...this visit was the best!
Go in April and reserve a room at Song of the Sea.

We visit our clients in Fort Myers annually and wanted to stay on Sanibel Island. I found this hotel and its sister hotels online. I chose this one by the trip advisor reviews. We had an ocean front room. It was well layed out and the bed was very comfy. The bathroom was smaller than I would have liked but we managed. The staff are super friendly and will help you with anything you need. This place is best for couples not children. If you want to lay out on the beach you need to claim your beach chairs and umbrella early in the morning. They are free but go pretty fast. The sand and ocean are glorious. It was very peaceful and quiet on our stay.
