Spring Break 08 and back to Sanibel. Decided to stay at Song of the Sea again (we stayed there spring break of 06). Looked at condos on VRBO.com but the cancellation policy is more stringent for them and decided to stick with SOTS we we had to book thru Orbitz and the hotels web site had nothing available. We ended up in a beach front suite directly above the one we stayed in two years ago. Same decor/layout. Bedroom has comfy king size bed that literally takes up the whole room. There is a small closet and dresser and two nightstands. A flat screen tv is mounted on the wall.
There is a nicely appointed but small bathroom. The shampoo and stuff was all Rusk Calm which I love. You can buy it at Ulta. Plenty of towels - 100% Egyptian cotton. Very nice.
Sleeper sofa in main room - small kitchenette with normal size fridge/freezer. coffee maker is one cup at a time but you can request a bigger one.
Room comes with a complimentary bottle of wine, we had a merlot from Washington state, not too bad. Breakfast is also included in the rate - at the office - they have a waffle maker, some fresh fruit - some days it was sliced cantaloupe, honey dew and watermelon, a couple of the days they had bananas, oranges, kiwi and apples. coffee, juices, yogurt, milk, small muffins, danish. Cereal. Bagels, etc. Not bad.
Beach chairs and umbrellas are also complimentary on a first come first served basis. We usually didn't have trouble getting chairs and an umbrella.
Pool is nice and also has a couple round tables with umbrellas which is nice. There is a shuffle board court and a hot tub.
There is no bar but you can walk next door to the Sanibel Inn's poolside bar/grill. They serve drinks and limited menu. Not bad food either. Grouper fingers were decent.
There were 3 of us and space is tight, I think 2 adults and two kids on the sleeper sofa would be max but we saw groups with 4 adults and kids - not sure how they did it..
Overall we like SOTS and would return.
