“Property on great shelling beach.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

Approximately 15 steps up to stilted condo. Be aware if you have pet or handicapped person. One of the few pet friendly properties on the island. Very clean and well stocked and maintained unit that had very comfortable beds and pillows, with ample linens, beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. Has a screened porch, with washer and dryer, in each unit, with views of the Gulf. Parking for 2 cars beneath unit. Swimming pool and racquetball on the property. Boardwalk to the beach. Peaceful and quiet area. Convenient location with great biking trails on the island. Young man who made the reservations on the phone, staffed the office and was helpful and friendly. Free bottle of wine on check-in. Though units were not brand new, I was pleased with my choice and would definitely return to Signal Inn. Be advised that August and September have warmer pool water and beach water, but living in the Florida Keys, I was aware of this. Linda K.

Room Tip: Realize no unit is actually beachfront as mangroves surround property, but all units are elevated on...

My husband and I have stayed at the Signal Inn several times with family and we just spent our first weekend just the two of us (and our pup Layla)! Amazing each and every time we go! The stilt condo's have everything you need from enjoying a relaxing night on the screened in porches, full kitchen so you can make breakfast, lunch and dinner (although we recommend bringing groceries as items on the island are pricey), beach chairs, umbrellas, etc etc. Wonderfully quiet and right on the beach. No worries about lugging all your things to the beach, as Signal Inn is set in the perfect location. Walking the beach will provide amazing colorful shells, dolphins jumping and an abundance of sea creatures to discover. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Signal Inn!!

Room Tip: All the stilt condos are wonderful, as we have stayed in four different units. The website has a map...

We booked a week long stay in Unit #8 in May of 2013 and were absolutely delighted. The staff was so personable- as if you'd known them for years, the unit was spotless and stocked with everything you could want- a bountiful supply of towels, blankets, extra sheets, and even a foam mattress topper in the closet! There was enough laundry and dishwasher detergent, toiletries, trash bags, and coffee filters to last us well beyond our week stay. The kitchen is full stocked with all manner of utensils, cookware and dishes and also included an electric range, dishwasher, garbage disposal and several small appliances like a blender, popcorn maker, tea kettle and coffee pot, The central air kept us plenty cool while the weather outside hovered in the high 80's to lower 90's. I was especially surprised that the washer & dryer that are inside the unit were NOT coin-op! We were also delighted to find an ample supply of beach chairs, a beach umbrella, shell nets, and water toys stowed in the carport at our disposal (most other resorts would charge rental fees!) and several drawers of the storage dresser in the hall full of a variety of board games, books, and puzzles. We were even greeted with our choice of a free bottle of wine upon check-in! Our unit was farthest from the office & pool and closest to the beach with expansive views of the gulf from both our screen porch and sun deck. The building itself is situated in such a way that other than the occasional passerby, we were completely secluded in privacy while still having the best view of the shore. There is a much appriciated and well-maintained boardwalk to get to the beach that keeps you from having to tread through the sand the whole way and makes it much easier to haul your gear to and from the beach. The boardwalk itself winds through lush green foliage that provides some shade while you walk and harbors all kinds of fascinating wildlife. Every night we had anoles, tree frogs, and geckos visit our deck. We didn't spend a lot of time in the pool area but when we were there it was immaculately clean. Overall the resort is big enough to be luxurious but with a limited number of units it was still very quiet and peaceful while we were there. We didn't want to leave! We can't say enough good things about this place! We hope to return to Sanibel and we won't bother looking anywhere else to stay!

Room Tip: Unit 8 is perfect for a couple. It's the closest unit to the beach and the screen porch and sun...

The unit we had was right off the pool, which was very clean and well maintained. The apartment was fully equip with everything you might need for eating in or out. There were also beach chairs, towels and umbrellas.
The screened porch was an added benefit where we enjoyed breakfast with a view of the ocean.
It was also great to have a washer and dryer.
The bed was comfortable and the pillows were really nice and plush, not those cheap hard things you find in a lot of rentals.
My only complaint is there was not much shade around the pool area, so early arrivals got the chairs under the 3 umbrellas.
I also found the people in the office to be very helpful and friendly. All in all this is a nice place to stay to enjoy Sanibel and the Gulf.

We stayed in unit # 12. It was spotless as we entered. This unit is perfect for a couple. Cozy and close to the pool. Yet very private being that it is hidden by a palm tree. This resort is conveniently located to the center of Sanibel. Just steps to the beach. In our week we spotted a baby gator, black snake, about 4-5 dolphin but the biggest treat was the day I walked out to the beach and right in front of me was a manatee swimming 20 yards out. Lot's of great memories to be made from the Signal Inn. You also have a hot tub, free newpapers daily and your own bbq grill. We've already requested another week for next year.

I would stay here again but not in the unit - make sure you view online and get a unit with an ocean view. These units are all owned by individuals. Still, the staff is lovely and accomodating, and you can't beat the proximity to the ocean. So although my unit is average, I will come back here again. Dog friendly as well, which for me is awesome.

Room Tip: Look online for the ocean view rooms. Call and speak to the front desk - they will be very accomodat...

Truly paradise! We had a wonderful week here. Truly amazing how clean and well kept. It lives up to the pictures on line and the boardwalk to beach was great!
