“More about shells than one would ever need to know :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Shells are pretty and one wonders of the life of their inhabitant, and I have been on beaches in more places than most, but I had no idea of the different sub-species of the various shaped animals. An hour or two in the museum should be the high point of your visit to the island.

“Just okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

My wife and I had some time to kill before our flight. The museum was just okay. It took about 25 minutes to see everything. This is something you would only visit once if all.

Meant to write the review I'd submitted for Sanibel Historical Museum under this heading. The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum is a "don't miss it" vacation highlight. Refer to the Sanibel Historical Museum reference to enjoy the review.

“Lots of interesting shells!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Very nice place, open and brightwith an amazing amount of shells and information. A small fee of 9.00 per person is charged to view the exhibit. A nice small gift shop is also available. The only down side was a rude employee at the desk who yelled at my husband while I was in line to pay because he was heading towards the exhibit door. The Museum would do itsself a favor to get rid of that grumpy old lady!

“Shell Education for old and young alike”

It is definitely worth the time and price of admission. The complexity and beauty you learn about these marvelous sea creatures should leave you in awe, really ! Is there a Creator? Answer is obvious.
