Owner description: Fun 2 Dive / Capt Joe is a Professional Eco-tour guide service that has been guiding customers for the past 31 years. We also offers Scuba / Snorkeling tours and training through out Florida. For the certified scuba divers we dive wrecks, reefs, caverns and springs. For a true Florida Eco-Adventure and my favorite, our manatee snorkeling trip which is offered only as a full day tour, with a very small group up to 6 people. This is great for the whole family 3 years an up, is all-inclusive and the best thing is NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Only Capt Joe runs this tour, and is a certified in-water guide and Instructor from several accredited agencies. Since we run this as a Eco-Tour Capt Joe is also a Florida Naturalist from the University of Florida / IFAS To a full scuba certification, and many specialty classes from top rated Instructors. Our shop / office is centrally located in Sanford Florida. To meet at the shop reservations are required, since we're the guides and do not hire outside help. The Sanford locates is where we conduct all scuba diver training, snorkeling and swimming lessons. Our trips, range from the Orlando area, Crystal River, and West Palm Beach. Depending on which tour you decide to take. We can meet you at the shop or at the boat, which is ever easier for you. Most of our trips are with in 1.5 hours of Orlando. Thanks for looking! Capt Joe

“Great time! Go nowhere else... It's worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Bottom line, use Fun 2 Dive.

As they've said in the other reviews, Capt Bill was great; he was a very accommodating and informative guide who has a clear passion for informing others about manatee and providing them with an amazing experience.

In all, we:
-Learned about the various wildlife and manatee throughout entire trip
-Were told about correct and incorrect ways to interact with the manatee to make the most out of the experience
-Swam with manatee, allowing them to approach us for interaction and pictures
-Had a personalized experience with a small group (only 4 people) and avoided large, strictly for profit groups with 30+ people

We originally called and Capt Joe was booked solid, but he referred us to Capt Bill who made the experience worthwhile. We went in the off season (October 2012), however, Capt Bill spotted manatee that were ready to interact and avoided those who were not. Our trip was about 5.5 hrs and could've been longer but the group was pretty much collectively finished and ready to head back.

(Snacks and Cold Drinks were made available that were included in the price, a very nice addition.)

“Swim with Manatees and Capt Bill Wilson”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Read the reviews and you will see a preponderance of excellent comments. And I agree! This was not just a great memory from Florida but without exaggeration the single best experience I have ever had on a vacation, ever! Capt Bill is not only very knowledgeable about this region and its flora and fauna, but he is clearly concerned and even protective of these amazing animals, which made the experience even more important for us as we firmly believe we should leave no human footprint when we interact with nature. We have twice swam with dolphins, a decidedly intelligent creature but contained in pools nevertheless, so it left me with a somewhat guilty conscience. With the Manatees we were guests in their world, and they came to us, not as captive beasts but as free, curious, and gentle creatures of nature. True, they are no doubt acclimatized to humans, and here is my conflict – we humans are the single biggest threat to them, so in practice the less human contact the better for Manatees. However, it is through interactions like this that we humans can be educated and even moved to action - there are only 4550 of these animals left. I still strongly feel you should take the opportunity to swim with them, especially if you have children. You will be affected in powerful ways and will leave with concerned interest in a rare animal species, perhaps even with desire to help preserve this animal and its environment. Capt Bill will take exemplary care of you, it will be an unforgettable experience. I also need to thank Capt Joe for coming to rescue us on his day off, poor Capt Bill blew the propeller drive shaft on the way back to the marina, possibly due to the prop striking a submerged renegade abandoned crab trap, a hidden menace in these waters. Kudos to Capt Bill, he kept his cool and his professionalism throughout this where I would have lost it big time if this were my outboard engine. He called in Capt Joe to ferry us back to the marina. Despite this setback we were extremely well accommodated on board despite this unforeseen mechanical disaster, and still left with the best memories. There is no doubt I will return to vist these gentle creatures, and there is no option for me other than Capt Bill and Capt Joe at Fun2Dive!

“Very memorable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Swam with manatees with my wife our honeymoon. We had an awesome time and were happy to have found a more ethical and conscientious type of wildlife encounter than Seaworld or Discovery Cove. Captain Joe was thoroughly passionate and entertaining.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

I decided to book a Manatee tour with Fun 2 Dive based on previous reviews and I was not disappointed! It's a bit of a drive from Orlando but well worth it as the Crystal River area is beautiful. Our guide was Captain Bill who was very informative and knew exactly where to go to find the Manatees (August is out of season so there aren't as many around). We were lucky enough to have the boat to ourselves, but the maximum they take is 6-7 where as other boats take out a lot more so you wouldn’t get the personal service you get with Fun 2 Dive. We spent around 2 hours in the water with the Manatee's, it was a great experience and I'd definitely recommend it and would definitely recommend Fun2dive!

“Manatee Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

The tour we took today with Captain Bill was amazing! He was so informative and knew exactly where to go to get the best chance to swim with the manatee in amazingly clear water. We really were lucky to see as many as we did this time of year, but we not only were able to get up and personal with some we actually happened to see a cow and a baby calf from the boat as well. To make our trip even better, we were able to travel down river and spotted a pod of dolphins who played around the boat!! Our perfect day can't be guaranteed every time, but judging from the dedication of Captain Bill to our entire group's enjoyment, I am sure that each and every tour can point out special experiences. You will not find a better value for your money - I am unable to recommend the experience any higher, book your tour now!!
