I recently went on a golf trip with 16 buddies to Destin, FL. Raven was our last round out of three rounds we played (Kelly Plantation, Camp Creek). The course was in great shape. The overall facilities, however, were quite lacking.
Firstly, this is Florida. We played in May. I'm sure they know how hot it can be. We played on a Saturday, tee time at 11am. I was in the last group of friends; we did not see our first beverage cart until hole 8. The course has no water coolers available anywhere on the course. The first water fountain is located at a restroom after hole 7. Pretty pathetic.
There is a snack stand located at hole 10. It had no selection available, the drinks were all as hot as the Florida weather. Their excuse was that they had the NCAA Div3 golf tournament over the last few days, so the snack shop was unoccupied. I am not sure how that causes a shortage of hot dogs or creates hot drinks unless the food and beverage manager was playing in the tournament himself.
All in all, decent track, but terrible facilities. I'd expect this type of service from a cheap muni, not a course that charges $130 a round. Pathetic.
It's okay to play, just expect to be hungry and thirsty during your entire round.
