I just returned from lunch with a friend where we ate at Portofinos Restaurant on 34th Street South in St. Petersburg. It was awful - from the experience to the food. Our salads were mostly unmanageable chunks of iceberg with wonderful pieces of rotting greens. The waitress was trying to be helpful even though it was only her second day. She apologized for the salad but then the management/owner? came over with this huge clear plastic bag of salad greens to show me that it was fresh. Maybe that bag was fresh and we received the end of the old bag of "field" greens. Bad, bad attitude. My friend had a ravioli special today that was served flattened out on the plate as if it were road kill and with no garnish at all. She picked at her plate. Mine was a penne dish with some kind of creole creation that was OK but nothing to ever remember. There was no garnish. The side of bread was quite lovely. I paid the bill and will never return.
