“Mixed Bag”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

BellaBrava is on St Pete's "Rivera" ...gorgeous and sophisticated Beach Drive on Tampa Bay.

The restaurant has a definite continental flair. It's sophisticated, but lively and casual at the same time. There's plenty of seating inside or in the sidewalk dining area. The outside dining is reminiscent of Switzerland's lakefront cities or of Italy and France. Even though the restaurant is lively, it doesn't seem noisy.

The waitstaff is very professional. They seem to enjoy their job and provide prompt and attentive service. They know the menu and wine list and seem eager to help.

The food was ok ...not great.

We started with Bella Bruschetta. It was pretty standard bruschetta, but with some goat cheese and mushrooms. It was good, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I ordered Chicken Giardino ...grilled chicken breast covered with finely diced tomatoes. The chicken was a bit chewy ...slightly undercooked. My Wife tried Pasta Brava and enjoyed it. On the server's recommendation, we ordered a bottle of Riello Delle Blaze Chianti. Inexpensive and delightful.

All in all, somewhat of a mixed bag. The ambience and service unbeatable, the food a little better than average. We'll likely go back.

Great location on Beach Street. The bar area was nice, the food was really delicious, and the service was great. I would go back again

“Friendly and good location food so so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

Excellent location, the staff and proprietor quite friendly. The food at least by Italian standards was at best so-so.

“Don't go for the food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

Other than the food, the restaurant was acceptable. Good location, friendly, efficient service, reasonable prices. The food was another matter. My wife's salmon came to the table blistering hot and dried out and she was unable to eat most of it. (Why we didn't return it to the kitchen I can't say but I resolve to do that at restaurants in the future. Maybe then they will improve.) The salmon must have been microwaved. I had chicken marsala. Two dry, tasteless chicken fillets with a dark, mushroomy sauce and a side of luke warm, nondescript pasta.

We just returned from a pizza/sub shop where lunch was $13 vs. c. $65 for dinner at BellaBrava the night before and both agreed that if offered a free meal at either place we would take the pizza/sub shop.

I enjoyed eating here with business associates. The menu is simple.

The food was great! Also good for couples.
