“What a hell hole”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2012

A team of us came down to Florida to work on a campaign. Our job booked us at this motel on short notice. What a hell hole. This place was grimy and made you feel dirty. The room was roomy though and had a desk and fridge. Whoop-De-do. Wads of chewing gum stuffed into the corners of the shower. Hookers outside your room. Pimps loitering about. We come back to our room one night and someone has tried to break into our room through the window. This motel is not safe, makes your skin crawl. They picked it because it had an outdoor pool but to be honest nobody would dare step foot in that pool.

A man on a bicycle approached one of my co workers outside his room asking shady questions about where we're from, how many of us were in each room, and how long we were going to be here. He than proceeded to attempt to sell him drugs. A similar instance happened to a different co worker of mine earlier that same night! Our female co workers stayed in their rooms and refused to open the door at night for anyone because of the shady crowd walking around.

On a lighter note, the gyros across the way at Salem's are very good. lol

Finding a hotel/Motel in St. Petersburg is a challenge. Prices are more than unfair!! Paid 100 bucks for 1 night, room was close to the pool, had some party people there, couldnt sleep until they were gone.
Staff is friendly, helpfull. However breakfast was a disaster, coffee was empty, waffle machine broken, juice machine broken.... we went to dunkin donuts!

The hotel bathroom was about as clean as you could get a 60 year old bathroom. the room was clean, the staff was friendly. but the real shocker was that the room behind us had a Male dressed as female prostirute working out of it. and the hired staff confirmed my suspicsion of this activity. I did not feel unsafe but i would think they would not allow this type of activity

Room Tip: Ask if they are reserving you a renovated room, suposedly they are going to be renovation of rooms...

This hotel has a friendly owner and is really clean. It is showing it's age (a few broken tiles in the bathroom) but it is excellent value for a place to crash at night. I saw quite a few people swimming and enjoying the pool area. There was no evidence of the trouble that was mentioned in some of the other reviews. The air conditioner is fairly noisy but I can sleep through a lot so it didn't bother me.

Room Tip: I asked for a non-smoking room and confirmed that request the dy I travelled based on other travelle...

We were scared to go here because of the the prior reviews, but price (and Hotwire.com) dictated we at least try it. It turned out fine. Not luxury, as implied by the price. We had a king bed for 2 adults and a child under 2 for one night = $68. Comfortable bed, clean room/bathrm, working appliances (including frig and microwave), decent amount of floor space. It is an older building with some quirks, but it has been made over with some nice touches. We arrived in the afternoon; the front desk let us check in an hour early and gave us a ground floor room close to the pool. We were content; the location worked out great. we were 30 minutes from Indian Rock Beach, where we had a fabulous dinner at Keegan's Seafood Grill, and about 35 minutes from the Lowry Park Zoo where we had an entertaining day with our little girl. For food options, there was a Salem's with gyros, wings, and subs right across the driveway, and a Dunkin' Donuts 2 doors down. Unfamiliar with St. Pete like we were? 34th N turned out to be a main area providing various lodging, food, and new car options to everyone. Several diners, bbq places and chain establishments. Noticed Comfort and Hampton Inns along the route. We also discovered that there is a large Calvary Chapel Church established in St. Pete's; exciting info for us who like to go. :)
Overall, we thought this Budget Inn was exactly that - a good place when you are on a budget. Rates were reasonable, room and grounds clean, and staff friendly.

Room Tip: Room 101 had a clear audio of the office outdoor phone line ringing. Room 103's door is directly...

This is my sixth day here and this place is disgusting, the ppl staying here are the worst of the worst of society, and most of all it is dangerous. Allow me to elaborate. There is a white fungus below the ac unit about 2 feet wide on the floor. Last night a ghetto person knovked on my door, said oops, then puked on my doorstep. They are renovating the room below me and have been pounding at my floor and within the walls for the past two hours. It's not the owner's fault, but st pete especially this block is extremely dangerous. The bathrooms are ok lol

My friend and I took a trip to FL for spring break this year and stayed here. We found it to be very suitable for our 2-night stay in St. Petersburg. Very close to Treasure Island and beautiful beaches, and the accommodations came at a much better value. Initially we were given a smoking room after having requested a non-smoking room, but they were very accommodating and helpful in making sure we got a comfortable non-smoking room. Great experience for the price!

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking if you want it. Then go back and ask again (nicely) if they accidentally give yo...
