While visiting friends in St. Pete, we decided to go to dinner. It was 8pm on a Sunday, and we asked to sit outside. They gave away 2 suitable outside tables, confusing our party of 3 with a party of 5 that was no longer waiting. At least they apologized for it, sort of. So we ate inside rather than waiting the additional 30+ minutes for an outside table. The canned music was so loud that we couldn't hear each other talking. It was better once the band started playing again.
I was pregnant (no raw fish) but craving ceviche. I read that most kitchens will accommodate pregnancy by cooking the fish before adding it to other ingredients. Ceviche is obviously one of their specialities because two of the nightly specials were different ceviche options. I asked about cooking the ahi. The server checked but said no. I explained the situation, asked about any of the other options, but still no.
Instead, I ordered a fish taco and a chicken taco, which were just ok, and watched while my friends ate different kinds of ceviche.
The server was prompt with drink refills, all smiles, knowledgeable about the menu, and nice when delivering the bad news.
Next time I will stick with what works... The other ceviche restaurant 5 blocks away.
