OK, let's get the mundane out of the way. First, I'm qualified to review this place, as I stayed there for almost 3 months during regular business trips to the area throughout the Spring of 2013.
This is an "A" level Hampton Inn (I'm not a huge fan in general of Hampton Inns, but a few standout, and this is one of them). The location is sublime for downtown St Pete, across the street from the SP Yacht Club, smack dab between all of the great restaurants on Beach and the party zone on Central. It's only about 10 years old, which means nicely updated, great lounge area, and the rooms are still newish (although they need to stay on top of this to make sure it stays that way). It's a Hampton, so the towels are thinner than I'd like, but the sheets are nice, and I spend a lot more time with the latter than the former.
But here's what really separate this place, the staff is Amazing. Whether it's the assistant manager Tiffany's can do, I'll take care of you, go the extra mile attitude (THANK YOU!), or the team she leads at the desk, with standouts like Andrew, Nykisha, and the ever positive Angelique, this team made me feel special every single day/night. The valet team works hard to make sure you rarely wait for your car (which is a trick with the tiny garage they have to work with), even asking when you bring it in at night, when you want it the next morning (and it's actually out there waiting for you)...thanks guys! Even the housekeeping staff makes you feel welcome (thanks LaToya). Whether you're there for a night, a week or more, having a solid staff quickly makes you forget some of the shortfalls that come with hotel stays.
My only recommendation for an upgrade would be with the eggs for breakfast. They're interesting (seem baked, if that's possible), probably a challenge for a limited kitchen, but there's got to be a better option out there... Other than that, everything was great. It's truly a dynamite place to stay!
