“A Refreshing Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2009

Our experience at this hotel was nothing short of fantastic. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed for a very pleasant stay. The owners of the hotel treated us like royalty.

I had the typical hotel expectations going in, so I was a little surprised at first. It has more of a B&B feel to it. I usually lock myself away in my hotel room, finding no reason to hang out in the lobby but that did not happen here. The friendly, easy-going owners/operators create a nice, relaxing atmosphere, and you don't feel like they've practiced their lines and facial expressions in a mirror. You know that fake "have a nice day" and grin you get from the chain hotels? The continental breakfast was more than adequate, and I think there was a free drink given at night but we didn't partake.
I would choose to stay there again even if on a business trip, where my Per Diem would pay for a room in one of big chain hotels. Steph and Brian prove that bigger is not always better. They also live at the hotel, so they know the local area very well.

We stayed here one night my husband and I. We arrived around 8:00 pm and were welcomed by Brian the owner, very nice and always smiling and looking happy.
The place looks like more a family house than a hotel, if you like small places its for you.
It is a charming place but doesn't worth $149 ( Saturday night,).
It is clean and quiet, even if it is located along a main street, you can park free. The room was kitch, but looks more authentic than the Marriott across the street. You can walk to the marina and to main restaurants (5mn). You have to take the car to go to the Dali Museum.

This small hotel (probably built in the 1930s and like a Bed & Breakfast-type place) turned out to be an excellent choice for seeing the sights of old downtown St. Petersburg. There was a trolley stop right across the street--only 25 cents each trip. Trolley stopped at several museums and the Pier. We stayed a total of 6 nights and the hotel managers, Brian & Stephanie, provided friendly advice on places to visit and loaned us lawn chairs to see an outdoor musical one evening. It was fun to visit with them and the other guests during breakfast and also happy hour each evening (a complimentary glass of wine or bottle of beer) before heading out for an activity.

My wife and I came to St, Pete for a wedding and checked this place out on the internet. We also have neighbors who have family members that own a business in St. Pete and the told us a lot of good thing about this place.
The couple who run the hotel, Brian and Stephanie, were very friendly.
The hotel is very close to the pier and other attractions.
We would definitely stay here again.

Loved this place! It has its pros and cons. The cons are things that cannot be changed; it is an older hotel and the rooms and bathrooms are small. Our room had two twin beds (all that was available when we booked) and twins take up more floor space than a queen or full so we were more cramped that other rooms. But I looked into other rooms and they had more space. Our room felt too cramped after 4 days. I spent a lot of time in the lobby/living room on my computer and that compensated for the small room.
But the pros are wonderful!! First of all, the people - Brian and Stephanie are great, enthusiastic hosts who want you to feel at home. They offer a happy hour every day and a breakfast buffet in the morning. They are delightful and well informed about the area. I overheard them talking to another guest who was leaving before breakfast the next day and Brian and Stephanie arranged to put a coffee pot and some pastries in their room so they could have something to eat before they left. That's service!! The location is another great plus - walking distance to downtown sights and on the "Looper" bus that goes around downtown. Rates are quite reasonable for the area. The hotel is clean and charmingly decorated. I would strongly recommend it, but caution you against planning a long stay in a twin bedded room if you are at all claustrophobic. Otherwise, it's great.

Stephanie and Brian are great! The place is very much like a B&B. There were many visitors for the Super Bowl weekend and they did a fantastic job giving personalized attention to all guests despite how busy they were.

The rooms are a bit small, but they offer great value if you are staying in the area.
