“Bring your own pillow, sheets and earplugs.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

If it wasn't for the fact that the view was peaceful, we would have packed our bags and left the first day. The sheets were so wore out that you could see through them. The pillows were made out of fiberfill foam that disintegrated by the third day. The HVAC unit in our room was so loud that it kept me up all night.
Although this motel had some nice amenities, I think the word resort is overreaching. Do yourself a favor and skip eating at periscopes which is the restaurant that is attached the resort.

We were concerned with your review and would have been happy to switch your room if you were not satisfied. We do our best to manage any issue on the spot.
Our pillows are the national brand standard for all hotels. We supply 4 per bed for extra comfort. We do have several amenities on property that continue to make us a hot spot for travelers. I will follow up with my staff to look into your mentioned concerns.Hope you had a safe journey home.

“Small Things Add Up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

The best thing about this hotel for us was the reasonable price and location to the college we were visiting. The rooms needed updates, beds felt old but were clean. The fitness room had 2 broken machines and needs basic upgrades, like towels for wiping equipment, hand weights, and a water dispenser. The staff was very helpful and were courteous. The restaurant was understaffed and the waitstaff overwhelmed at breakfast. I only wanted to pay for a cup of coffee to go and no one had time to help me, even though the urns are displayed for guests to help themselves. Perhaps either providing free coffee or the "honor system" for payment would be preferable. Teams from different states were in the restaurant for spring break training and service suffered. I did not order food so can not comment on the cuisine. Pool and grounds near hotel looked lovely but too cold to swim. I would stay here again but only if the price remained reasonable. If you are ok with the basics and need a good rate then stay here. If you want a beautiful beach and modern touches, stay elsewhere. Plenty of those around.

Our price sure is hard to beat! If you are staying here with Eckerd College, we have a year round rate. Next time you make your reservation, please mention Eckerd for the deal. .
We will definitely look into the fitness center right away. However we do supply it with towels and water at all times. We do host various teams throughout the months of February and March. We apologize for any wait time due to the large groups. Please give us another chance when you visit again.

“candidate for Hotel Impossible show”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

The price was right for the first week of baseball training season and spring break. After I removed the 60's flowery spreads and installed the nice white comforters from the closet the room looked acceptable. Had all the needed amenities, refer, box tv w cable; hair dryer and nice tub/shower. I'd recommend requesting the original one story rooms. They were the most soundproof of any hotel anywhere. So quiet........and the ice and washing machines are across the way.
Downside...at least in Feb. 2013...no internet access anywhere if you have an Apple product. They did buy one new computer and installed it in the lobby for 24 hour free access but even event presenters couldn't use their on-line power point. Beach was shabby and unkempt; tennis courts a wreck. Pool was nice and extra heated pool and jacuzzi hot and bubbly.
Restaurant fare blah except for a good chicken pasta primavera. You have to drive a couple of miles to get to other food sources tho. It's at the south end of town and isolated. St. Pete beach area is about 8 miles west. It's an ok location if you are seeking to visit St. Pete's museums (Dali and Art, History and Holocaust) but this not for beach sunbathing.
You must have your own car here. If I had my druthers I'd seek a mom and pop motel along the beaches. The employees are this resort were very friendly and helpful. Sad the place needs so much work to get it up to par. Hope they can do it tho. I did like my quiet get away room.

Room Tip: Ask for the one story building just to the east of the lobby. Older, but sooooo quiet. Park outside...

Thank you for your review of the hotel. We have several different room types. They are all quiet and within walking distance to everything on property. Our wireless internet is always on, perhaps you were not logged onto our network. We would hope if one of the presenters could not get their's to work, they would inform someone on staff so we could assist them with their computer.
Having a rental car is always a great suggestion. While we have several amenities right on the grounds, if you want to explore the local area and culture, you might want to have a rental car or grab a taxi.
Hope you give us another chance in the future and that you had a safe trip home.

“Magnuson hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

we recenly stayed at the Magnuson Marina Cove and we had a very enjoyable time. The rooms were pretty standard but they were nice and clean and the cleaning staff were right on top of things. The hotel is quiet so if you're looking for alot of action it's not for you. The washroom was clean and nice and roomy. There is a boat cruise that leaves from the hotel called the Adventure Boat Cruise which is a must do!! The hotel is conveniently located right at the 275 entrance and is within a 20 minute drive to Clearwater,Treasure Island, Madiera Beach and Tampa. There is also a huge mall nearby called the Tyrone Shopping Center. The beach at the hotel is not that great so you would probably want to use the pools. The restaurant (The Periscope) left a lot to be desired and the first night we got there we didn't pay enough attention to the bill and left a 15% tip not realizing they had already INCLUDED an 18% tip in the bill. We were NOT happy about it. Believe me the sevice was not worth the 18 % let alone 38%!!!! I would stay at this hotel again it was enjoyable and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: courtyard overlooks the bay and has a nice balcony on second floor

“Satisfactory trip.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

My daughter and I stayed here for a visit to Eckerd College. The location was the reason we chose this hotel. The service was very good and we had two issues that were attended to right away. The beds were comfortable and the room was adequate. We will definitely stay here again.
