“Restful resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Stayed here oct. 23-29,2012. I was looking for quiet getaway that provided services so I would not have to leave the resort, unless I wanted too. This was a wonderful place that met my needs. All the staff: housekeeping, maintenance, front desk, restaurant staff, bartenders, etc., were extremely friendly and polite. While property is a bit date, everything was very clean and functional. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The food at both the restaurants was very tasty and all but one of the waitstaff were very personable. It was relaxing to sit by the pools during the day, and enjoy the scenic view of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge at night from the deck of the tiki bar at night. Great piña coladas and rum runners from Sarah! Beach area was not very pleasant, though. It desperately needed cleaning and smelled bad

Room Tip: Room 127 had a nice pool and garden view. Easy walk out to the pool.

Sounds like you had a great stay. The weather has been great here and is really starting to cool down at night. I will pass on all your kind words to the staff, especially Sarah in the Nepa Hut Beach Bar. Our two pools sure do provide a relaxing atmosphere and a perfect escape from a busy day.
Next time you come visit from up north, please call us ahead of time. We would love to place you in the same courtyard area. It is a great spot. Hope you had a safe trip home.

advertised to have a beautiful and private sandy beach...it looked like a landfill, debris floating in with the tide and wedged between seaweed and oyster shell bed they called sand.....if your family is on a major budget this place will do....plan your meals though their restaurant is limited

Thank you for the review. We do have a private man made beach that sits right on Tampa Bay. While we do get seaweed based on the tides, we maintain the beach and remove it when the tide goes out.
Our restaurant, Periscopes, is full service with a complete menu for breakfast and dinner. For a lighter meal, our Banyan Tree Deli serves lunch and delivers food to both bars.
Maybe next time you are in the area you will give us a second chance.

Our son got married Oct 28th, we had 2 rooms reserved for the weekend and had previously made arrangements to have a few people return to the pool bar for cocktails after the beach wedding and all was a go.......the Monday prior to the wedding I called to confirm and was told I had to pay a $600.00 bar deposit. The food and beverage sales director was RUDE and unhelpful, the bar manager was worse!!!!
we cancelled our reservation and went to another hotel on St Pete Beach which was all to happy to accommodate us,our needs and our $$$$$$
our new resort was fantastic and our event a hudge success!!!!
Magnuson your loss!!!!!

We are glad you had a successful event! The last thing we wanted to happen was for you to have a bad ending to a wonderful event. When you called and gave us numbers between 10 and 120 people, I think it was a fair request to ask if you had a better feeling for the exact turnout of guests.

We just wanted to make sure we were staffed appropriately at the bar and had enough champagne on hand for your requested toast. We feel bad that you misunderstood our intentions.

Hotel bit out of St Petersburg but is good base. Room 422 clean and comfortable hotel has bars Inc on waterfront and nice restaurant. Staff friendly ladybarkeep makes great pina coladas and takes no nonsense from rowdy locals.

Sounds like you had a great time with us and were able to enjoy some of our amenities. Our October weather in St. Pete has been great for enjoying the pools and grounds here on property.
Come back and visit again, the pina coladas will be waiting.

Our experience at this hotel was not the best. It wasn't anywhere near the beach as I thought. As well, the rooms were average with very noisy a/c unit and ice machine that wasn't near the room. Overall, it wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed but wouldn't necessarily recommend it. There are many other hotels that one could probably stay at and be better placed to enjoy the sites of St. Petersburg. The Staff was friendly and helpful though.

We do sit on Tampa Bay with a small man made beach, however we are not far from Ft. DeSoto Park and St. Pete Beach. You would need a rental car or taxi to get there.
Thank you for the nice comments about the staff. We take great pride in providing excellent service to each and every guest. Maybe when you are back in the area, you will give us a 2nd chance. Please call us ahead of time to request a certain room or floor. We would be happy to help.

Stayed here for 2 nights in close season was going to be four but had a bad expierence so left early. The management in this hotel cant be faulted, only the reception staff on checking in was i felt rude and not very helpfull. Also maybe a maid but that hasnt been proved...........yet
The hotel is off the beating track and quite away from most places however the restaurant and bars on site are very good ,the food is tasty and has a wide choice. Both pools are big and one has a hot tub.The beach bar is great and Mark the barman is helpfull ,other than the incident this hotel is excellent would stay again, and was very reasonably priced. It would have got a 5 rating but for what happened.

Room Tip: Dont leave anything of value about.

It was great having you stay here and we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. I will pass your compliments onto Mark. We always recommend having a car as there are so many great things to see and do in St. Petersburg. The great benefit of staying here is that we are so close to the Gulf Beaches, many fine restaurants and fun things to see for tourists (actually we like to visit them too!).
On a side note, I personally enjoyed meeting both you and your wife and look forward to your return trip to St. Petersburg. (The incident this guest addresses involved the loss of the guests wallet. Unfortunately the guest thought he had left it in his room but lock interrogation records showed that the only entries made into his room when it was discovered missing was the guests assigned to the room. It appears he dropped his wallet somewhere on or off the hotel grounds however it was never turned in nor could our employees find it for him.)

We had not planned to stay in this area but changed plans midway through our "beach hopping" trip. We loved this little gem of a place. Very quaint and "old florida style". My husband loved fishing every evening and my kids loved the pools. It was nice to have the outdoor restaurant to get drinks and food. Great service too! The kids loved renting the surrey bikes and riding to park.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Florida and our hotel. Wish you were here today, the weather is perfect. Our hotel is very quaint and the fishing out back from our marina area is great. The fish are jumping all day and the manatees and dolphins typically come in at night.
The bike rentals are reasonable and perfect for kids of all ages. Next time you are in, hop on over to see us again.
