Loved the old world charm of this hotel, the wine in the afternoon. The hotel rooms are fairly small, old furniture. The bathroom has the now fashionable bathtubs with foot.
Room I stayed in was very quiet. Stayed only one night. Breakfast was included. Staff is very friendly. The veranda in front is quaint. Parking is available next door for free and there is high speed internet (wireless).

This hotel's website promises "lowest price guaranted " directly from hotel's site, yet when I found a $40.00/night ! cheaper rate on O****z, upon requesting help from them by email, I got NO answer, and on calling them by phone, they just laughed it off!!! ( I did not want to use O****z, because lately, every email from them, is flagged by my virus screener as " possible infection detected" ) Even when I told them it's my 20th anniversary trip, they offered NO HELP! I sure wouldn't trust that they really clean the sheets, when they don't even honor their printed words on the web !?

I have traveled all over the States and Europe. I come to Florida once a year to visit my sister and for the last 5 years I have stayed at the Pier Hotel, because I just love everything about this special, quaint hotel. The classic decor evokes the image of the 1920s, when this hotel was a hit resort. The rooms are renovated in the shabby chic tradition, but with all the modern amenities to enhance the experience. I love the piano in the lobby, which brings an old-world charm to the warm Florida afternoons.

The staff is always extremely friendly, helpful and diligent. They always give us great recommendations for restaurants, spas and nightlife. The best is that the hotel is walking distance from the all of the downtown attractions and shopping areas. There is nothing better than coming back from a draining day of shopping and beach fun and being greeting with the free cocktail hour: beer, wine, snacks - a wonderful way to unwind. Sometimes if we want to stay in for a quiet intimate evening, we hang out on the luscious porch, open a bottle of wine and rehash old stories. And if we want a night out, we can always walk a block and get a great meal or a drink in the lively downtown St. Pete. If you love charm, sophistication and convenience, this is the place for you. I recommend this hotel whole-heartedly!

My husband and I are locals and just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We wanted to get away without having to go too far to get there. The Pier provided a wonderful place to relax and enjoy all of the wonderful offerings of downtown St. Petersburg within walking distance. We had dinner plans, concert tickets and never had to take a cab or drive.

The rooms were impeccable and reminiscent of old world Florida. A perfect atmosphere for a romantic get away. The staff went above and beyond as well. We took time to enjoy a glass of wine and light appetizers on the patio during their happy hour. They even included a well appointed continental breakfast that was just perfect.

My husband was even able to arrange my favorite fresh flowers (Gerber Daisies) in our room through the front desk. We could not have asked for a better place to stay to make a very memorable weekend. I can’t wait till next year!!
