“Noisy!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

The rooms were really nice and recently updated with nice furnishings and flat screen TV's.Nice hot tub one which we enjoyed very much!! The cobblestone walkways right by the bedroom was very noisy when the maids pushed their carts in the morning,we ended up taking our mattress off our bed and putting it on top the hideabed in the living area just to get some sleep as we are NOT early risers!! Nice beachfront bar to enjoy the beautiful sunsets!A nice place to stay!!

Thanks for the nice comments about the recently renovated suites and our ideal beachfront location, I sincerely appreciate it!

Re: the housekeeping carts in the corridors: We are currently replacing the old carts with brand new, rubber wheeled very quiet rolling carts...I am sorry that the carts disrupted your sleep, but housekeeping has to get started at 8:30-9:00 AM in order to service all the 143 suites on property and handle the numerous daily checkouts as well. This is only the second time in over 10 years that I have heard that the carts are noisy in the corridor. I will look into that issue right away with our Director of Housekeeping..thanks for the "heads up"

We picked this place to be beachfront but to also have a bedroom and separate living room. This was a weekend at the end of a week long Orlando trip. Checkin was friendly and efficient. They gave us beach pails for the kids which were used the whole time we were there. It was very clean but definitely looking a little worn, especially yhe carpet. There is a small kitchenette which was good for snacks and lunch food. Our beachfront suite was on the first floor next to the cabana bar and pool. It was great to sit on our patio and enjoy the music and look at the beach and ocean. However, having a room with the bedroom backing up to the pool was not great as the pool is open until 11 pm. It was quite noisy for the kids trying to sleep and on Saturday we were on everyone's path coming home after partying all night until about 2 am. This isn't the hotels fault at all and I think if we had been in a different room away from that area it would have been ok. beds were comfortable.

Overall a solid choice for a couple of days with a family. I don't think we will be back to this particular area. The beach was nice but it is definitely more of a party scene here at night than we realized and prefer quiter secluded beaches.

Room Tip: Any pool facing rooms could be noisy at night if you want to turn in early, or next to Cabana bar.

We stayed for a weekend and enjoyed our stay. The service was good and price was competitive with nearby hotels (a plus is no resort or parking fee). The decor is a bit dated but served the purpose of a suite with full kitchen and plenty of space located near lots of bars/restaurants/shops. Would stay there again.

Rooms were large, but the place is pretty dated. The beach access was great. Sleeping was next to impossible, as the bar across the highway was very loud, and our bedroom was at the front of our suite facing the street.

We were a group of 6 girls staying here for a bachelorette party. The room was not ready for checking when we arrived and thy could not give us an estimate when it would be available. Check in is not until 4 so they didn't do anything wrong technically but we tried to request an early check in and the hotel certainly did not seem full. The room was about $300 which seems high for an old hotel on the beach. But the location was good. We were in walking distance to some fun beach bars. They only allow one car to park per room but the guy at the front counter Beau was super nice and gave us two parking passes to make up for the check in issues. I would stay here again if it was a really good deal but not for $300 a night.

We had a bad experience with our rental and were literally homeless. We found the Alden and love it all. It was clean, and the staff was excellent. Location is great and I loved the Keurig coffee in the lobby. It started as a bad experience but the Alden made it all so much better. Glad we found it and will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a corner room on the upper floors

What people like about the Alden is just that....we are all suites with kitchens and geared to a longer term stay than the traditional hotel with tiny rooms...we house many guests waiting for their house to get fumigated or renovated, etc...we have many repeat guest in the Winter that stay for 30-60 days!

Thanks for letting us "save you!"

Staff was good, room space good but, as other reviews have stated, place is dated. Decor not matching and TVs are older tube-type lacking vibrant color. Kitchenette serves purpose but short on dishes and had no utility knife. Many reviews list this as kid friendly so I must not know what that means. While a basketball was available at the desk, I expected some buckets and shovels for the beach, etc. Bar across street kept us awake. First time to this area and it appeared the Alden was like most of the hotels along here. You go for the beach.
