Stayed here for a weekend in August 2010. The motel is in a less than desireable neighborhood. You know you are in ghetto territory when you see multiple nail salons, check cashing places and pawn shops. If it were not for the palm trees this could have been a bad area of Prince Georges County or some of the cruddier hoods of my home town of Baltimore. This Ramada looked like it was originally a Holiday Inn that was built around 1962 or earlier. A two story motel with a courtyard surrounding a pool. We were first given rooms on the first floor facing the parking lot. Both rooms had woefull air conditioning. The through the wall under the window units were underpowered and in one room blew hot air. My two friends felt the rooms were dirty so off they went to a Wal Mart or wherever to buy bleach. I stayed behind and "borrowed" some citrus smelling cleaner that smelled nice. I went back to the front desk and requested a change of rooms. The front desk agent was sweet and gave me two rooms facing the pool which she liked. These were much better. The air conditioners in both rooms blew cool air and were adequate. However, the A/C does not reach to the bathroom. I like a cool john. I swabbed down the counters and bathroom with the citrus smelling stuff and the room smelled nice after this. The pool area was OK, average cleanliness. However, later, I brought back some excellent carry out wings from "Winghouse." Out came the little roaches. yuck! The TV was your standard 27" tube model but, I was not in Florida to watch TV. ST. Pete Beach which is gorgeous is a 20 minute drive away from the ghetto. The lobby looked like something out of a bad early 70's "blacksploitation" flick with worn red velvet sofas and carpet. I swore I've seen it in old porn movies (LOL) The air conditioning in the lobby was literally nonexistent. The business center is complimentary but, the printers did not work. I needed to print some cruise itineraries and flight paperwork. Another nice young woman behind the desk tried doing it for me but alas her printer also was DOA. The complimentary breakfast was served in a dingy meeting room that looked too like it was featured on :Love American Style. The food was actually pretty good. I encountered the best sweet saussage triangles and the scrambled eggs were good with what I thought and hoped were chives not those little roaches. The staff and owners are friendly but sadly this Ramada needs "Extreme Makeover Hotel/Motel edition." A 24 hour Dennys is right next door. Big deal. I don't care for Dennys. But thank God Winghouse was a 5 minute drive up the main road and the area slightly improved.
