“Wonderful Wedding Venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed at The Birchwood for a weekend to attend a wedding. It was a beautiful hotel and the staff was exceptional. Everyone we interacted with seemed to really care and want us to be comfortable. The decor was stunning in every area of the hotel. The rooms are decadent. The huge beds and claw foot tubs wonderful at the end of a long day. The one downside was the noise from the rooftop bar (The Canopy). We could here the noise all night. Luckily we were usually part of the party, but if we hadn't been it would have been really frustrating. Some of our party had rooms on the front side of the hotel and didn't hear the noise so perhaps that would be a better option if you are sensitive to noise. We had a wonderful time at the hotel and would definitely stay there again if we ever make it back to St. Pete.

Room Tip: Get a room on the front side of the hotel if noise bothers you so you don't hear the partying at...

Sometimes creative words are needed to expound on the traits of a place, not here! Bring your senses and they will pleasantly appeased! Great weather, amazing views, attentive staff, inviting rooms, delicious food and creative libations to help you engage in stimulating conversations at the Canopy (Roof Top Bar).

Just spent a wonderful weekend celebrating my niece's wedding at The Birchwood. From the ceremony to the reception and the after party @ The Canopy, the Birchwood could not have been a better venue for a such a memorable event. The staff is amazing -from the managers to the housekeepers. Whatever we needed, we got promptly and with a sincere smile. The food for the reception was phenomenal (salmon or chicken), perfectly cooked and beautifully plated for 110 guests. The servers were total pros and the decor in the ballroom was simple, yet elegant. Even the open bar was staffed and handled perfectly. We capped the whole thing off with a fabulous Sunday brunch, which was delicious and affordable. The rooms are nicely appointed and the beds are extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are amazing. The deep-soak claw foot tub alone was worth the price of admission. Can't recommend The Birchwood enough!

We enjoyed our New Year's stay at The Birchwood. The staff was very nice. We booked too late to get a room with a view, but our room was quite comfortable nonetheless. The best part of our stay was the fantastic party on New Year's Eve starting at the beautiful Canopy outdoor lounge on the top of the hotel overlooking the Bay and then in the ballroom. This party with a "Mad Men" theme was absolutely fantastic. The owner and his family also attended. A lot of care and thought has been put into this renovated hotel. It was a treat!

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the bay if at all possible!

Arrived early and we were checked in, bags taken, car parked and having a drink on the roof within 20 minutes. The room was not ready but they said they would call us when it was. The rooftop bar area is very nice and we arrived on a Sunday lunchtime so it was buzzy. They called us at 3pm and said our room was ready. Our room/suite was 302 - great decor, lovely and clean with a wonderful bathroom - a large walk in show with a rain head shower head and a rolltop bath. Very gothic and very nice. There were a couple of things that they could improve on - firstly they do not have in room safes which as an international traveller was quite shocking for me - they did offer to put our valuables into their own safe, but even so they really need to invest in this. This is an 18 room hotel and they don't offer a turn down service, which I find a bit strange, given it is so nice here. They could also supply slippers too as their robes are good. We ate in the restaurant - very good service - food also good, but I made a wrong choice of their pasta dish as I should know that everything here in the States gets smothered in so much cheese - it was my fault as I should have known, but it wasn't very nice. Overall if you are coming to St Petersberg please stay here because it is lovely and also historic too.

Room Tip: If you can choose room 302 - great size - large bathroom - comfortable bed.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a premium King over looking bay. Large room big 4 poster bed and great bathroom with separate shower. If you are in St Petersburg then this is the only place you want to stay. They also offer complementary breakfast as well

We sat outside by the fire pit for drinks and some appetizers. Monkey bread and fish spread were sooo yummy! The service was top notch, so fast and friendly! I was really happy we decided to take a break here. Inside has a cool ambiance and the upstairs rooftop is super nice. Highly recommend!
