“Worth the 2 hour drive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2006

We live nearly 2 hours inland from St. Pete and on the word of a friend decided to drive over and try Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish. I grew up in Jacksonville and ate a lot of home smoked mullet (when in season) as a child and have been in search of same since the little place we used to find it at Cortez (near Bradenton) closed. We arrived at around 3:00 and were immediately seated (we had a choice of indoor or out and chose inside). Ain't nothing fancy about this place but it is perfect for what it is! Service and food was wonderful. The menu is rather limited so if you don't like smoked fish or hamburgers, this place isn't for you. 3 of us had smoked mullet, 1 had the smoked mackerel, and 1 the hamburger. All portions were ample and came with delicious german potato salad & fresh cole slaw. The fish spread was the best we'd had and went quickly. We also had to have the frosty mug root beer (no diet available) and the frosty flavor was worthy of a glass, frozen mug! By way of warning, make sure to take CASH only as they don't accept checks or credit cards. We'll definitely drive over there again and take friends & family - Ted Peters' smoked fish is famous with good reason!

“a beach tradition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2006

we wouldn't think of visiting the gulf without stopping here for smoked fish and cold beer. we've been doing it for 20 years and have never been disappointed in the quality even if some times the service borders on curt. with a product as good as they have at ted peter's i guess they can afford a little of that this aint burger king attitude and you get it my way or you don't get it at all. but it's that good! it's a never fail hit at our house.

“try the smoked fish spread”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2005

it's the best thing on the menu here. we've been eating at ted peters for years. don't go before 11am they don't open until then and won't make any exceptins. we love the cold beer at the counter. service is good but the hot dogs are as good as the fish. they ship now so you can enjoy it any time of year. this is a treasure coast landmark.

“A great old Florida eating experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2005

My wife and I visit St Pete Beach each October and make at least one trip to Ted Peter's every year. It's famous for it's Smoked Fish and has the best Smoked Fish spread in the area. They have great hamburgers too.
If you want to experience the "old Florida" experience, I recommend you go to Ted Peter's. They must be doing something right because I see the same waitresses there year after year. Try it, you'll like it.

“For the Smoked Fish Lover!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2005

Ted Peter's is a landmark in St. Petersburg (really Pasadena), FLorida. Serving a limited menu of smoked fish and hamburgers, it has been a staple of St. Pete life since the 1940s. Their smoked mackerel, mullet, mahi mahi and salmon are the best anywhere! And great German potato salad!
