“A Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

My husband and I travel regularly on both coasts of Florida, and recently stayed at the Postcard Inn for three days for the first time January 14-16, 2012. We were excited to find out that the Postcard Inn allows pets because we wanted to bring our dog with us. Everything about our stay at the Postcard Inn was positive. Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, there was a wedding on Saturday, but it was a beautiful wedding and there was a live band playing gorgeous jazz music all night, so we considered that a huge bonus for us. The fact that there was a wedding did not detract from our stay, but in fact added to it in a positive way.

As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a refurbished motel, but the owners have done a terrific job of turning it into a comfortable place with a retro surfer vibe. The rooms are quite cute with retro surfer pictures on the wall, and striped fabric on the couch. The bathroom is small, but has everything necessary, and there is closet space and plenty of drawers for clothing. One of my favorite things about the room is the shelving built into the wall between the closet and the bathroom. It really came in handy for storing things and keeping them up and out of the way. There was a small refrigerator in the room built into the table next to the couch. We knew from reading the other reviews that there wasn't a coffee maker in the room, so my husband brought ours from home; however, he ended up buying coffee at the PCI Beach Bar and Snack Shack that he said was delicious. He drinks coffee every morning and said this is some of the best coffee he has ever had and said it was well worth $2.75 for a very large cup.

On Sunday morning, we ate breakfast at the Beach Bar and Snack Shack and found the food to be of a good quality and quantity for the money. We especially enjoyed hanging out at the Beach Bar and Snack Shack during the afternoon and into the early evening. There was live music that appealed to a large diversity of music tastes and we had a great time meeting other guests, listening to the music, enjoying good food and watching volleyball on the beach.

Other past guests have mentioned that there is a lot of noise at night, and we did notice some guests being rather loud outside into the late hours of the night. But that happens at almost every resort/hotel/condo that we visit. There are inevitably guests who drink too much and decide to act immaturely and become disruptive. Maybe if the external wall of the room was thicker, it might have blocked some of the noise, but we just brought ear plugs and slept fine. We find it is better to be proactive in situations like this in order to make our vacations the most fun for us. For the low rate that the Postcard Inn charges, we were amazed at how well kept up the property really is, especially considering that the underlying structure is older. But if everything was brand new, we would probably have to pay twice the rate that they currently charge, so we are more than willing to make a few minor concessions.

The staff at the Postcard Inn also deserves a "good job" from us. They were always pleasant and helpful and did a good job of making us feel like we were important. As frequent travelers, my husband and I are particular about the properties that we visit, and we were delighted with the Postcard Inn. We can't wait to visit again.

Room Tip: Our room had a refrigerator, although other reviewers did not have a refrigerator in their unit, so...

Some may use terms as "cheesy" or "beat", but those who do just don't get it. PCI is an older motel, reworked into a hip and comfortable place. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms might be called "weathered", but that adds to the unique charm and genuine fun of staying there. They are clean well-serviced. The beds comfortable. The main restaurant is BBQ & light fare, but offers veggie selections too. The breakfast snack bar menu (walk-up only) is limited, but has a great breakfast burrito. The bar is a cool beach-style staffed with bartenders who know how to mix great drinks. With the family with 20-something kids, this is perfect. You be there or you be square.

Room Tip: Gardenview is away from the beach bar, so quieter; fire pit nearby. Nice.

I appreciate your comments on your recent stay at PCI. Providing a relaxed and enjoyable stay is our top priority, and I'm happy to hear that we delivered on that promise during your visit. I'll be certain to share your review with our staff to let them know their hard work made a wonderful impression. I have to agree with you that the breakfast burrito is my fave as well.

Hope to see you soon!

Having read negative reviews, we were a bit nervous about staying here but as it was the week between Christmas and New year there wasn't much choice in the area. Firstly it is very expensive for what you get but it was better than my expectations. We had 2 different rooms and I can tell you that the ocean front ones are worth splashing out for the view. The rooms are nice, not luxurious and the bathroom lets them down but generally good overall. The staff are really friendly if not terribly competent or organised. The burger restaurant onsite was terrible or rather the service was but go elsewhere to eat and you'll be fine.

Postcard inn
Mixed thoughts about this place- arrived on new years day into a full- on spring break type party- lots of college kids and older ones who would like to be college kids ! Good party atmosphere, strong cocktails ($8), LOUD music - like some others have said not sure this a place for young families with kids but there were plenty of children around, so it must suit some.
The property is most definitely a motel with a distinct retro feel - the rooms are ok- bathrooms could do with being modernised but the bed was very comfortable.
AC is centrally controlled which didn't suit us
The lack of a fridge in your room is also a real minus .
Coffee is provided free of charge in the lobby before 730am and is then $2.75 (with refills) at the beach shack . Breakfast ( which is not icluded) was not up to much - oatmeal was stodgy- it was pretty much the only health option.I don't want a burrito for breakfast!
The on- site restaurant was a good quality ribs hamburger joint that serves tasty food  in a good atmosphere at reasonable prices.
Had one real issue with the hotel I ( my fault) gave them my debit card when I checked in instead of a credit card. When I noticed this (£700 blocked from my account) and asked them to unblock this card and use another one- this seemed a big ask and took them 4 days to sort out.some of the staff however were very helpful and friendly.
Besides the negative I would stay here again if I was in the area- which doesn't seem to have too many other good options.

Here goes with my first review. Postcard Inn is probably one of those hotels that you either love or hate. Hence my 3 star rating! The lobby is smart with free internet and a printer, in a library / surf dude way. The restaurant is also quite nice and sells good value tasty american fare such as steaks, ribs and burgers. There is a great beach hut style bar on a pristine beach selling tasty cocktails, beers etc with US sports on TV and regular live music. A great place to party or watch the routinely spectacular sunsets. There are also 2 small gyms as good as anyone should expect for this type of place. All good so far... But on the other hand not everything is to the same standard. The food they serve down as the beach shack (breakfast / lunch) was a little tasteless. The rooms decor is OK, again its surf's up dude style but they clearly spent their renovation money on the public areas. The bathroom is old with my personal pet hate of pink fixtures and a small bath with a shower in it. No fridge, no coffee machine. The air con is also centrally controlled so when a cold snap hit florida the locals couldn't take the cold like us Brits and cranked up the heating without warning meaning a restless sweaty night for us. I asked about this and was told all we could do was shut the air con air vents and that they would send someone to do that (but they didn't). Paying the bill was also far more work than it should have been, we were leaving early and wanted to pay up the night before but were told that wasn't possible until 2am when the final days charges hit the bill. There were other problems too that I won't go into but basically the staff were extremely nice and friendly but delivery was not quite there. Many of the reviews mention the noise. I can understand what they mean. The rooms have thin walls and the central air con units also funnel sounds around. When we arrived on 1st Jan there were loads of youngsters partying which is either your cup of tea or not (if thats what you want then this is a great place for it by the way). The next day they all left and the place was quiet and peaceful. So make sure to plan your dates carefully. Whether you want a party location, a base for the theme parks and attractions or a family beach holiday then The Postcard Inn is as good as any in the area. Just check what the public holidays are first!

Room Tip: Stay away from the pool side villas is you want a quiet time.

We decided to go to Postcard Inn because friends of friends recommended it. This is a young, hip renovated motel which is perched comfortably on the beautiful gulf coast. The decor is youthful and art deco inspired. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The little beach bar is adorable albeit a tad divey (not meant negatively at all!) and draws a fun, lively crowd on the weekends. It looks as if it's built out of driftwood, covered in black sharpie signatures and studded with various license plates from random states. The barbeque restaurant inside the hotel has delicious food and is also cute.
It was a mixed crowd as far as demographics: mostly young couples (like us!), but also some seniors and families with kids. A good environment for everyone, but probably more geared towards young adults.
I'd say that you may be able to find a better place with more amenities for your money, but I liked it because it was not overdone and had a true beach/local vibe. They did a great job with the decor and made it colorful and unique throughout. I LOVED the fire pit in the courtyard and the hanging lanterns and lights in the trees. Just such a warm and inviting touch.
Bed was comfy, rooms were clean, pool was WONDERFUL and also clean. No major complaints!

Room Tip: They have larger rooms that have hammocks and little yards that are in front of the pool and close t...
